I think your wrong on the Cave In stuff MMM. They've been recording demos since Antenna, and they wanted to recapture the feel of their earlier death metal style. Almost all these are new songs especially the ones that have the older more brutal vibe, Some songs, such as "Down the Drain" & "droned" were recorded a few years ago and were released on an ultra rare ep cd that was given out at a concert. There is even a cover of "dazed and confussed" on that ep.This mix of the death metal with the more prog pop psych style is the direction they are headed, kinda the best of bothe worlds. "Trepanning" is a new song which sums up how the band is currently writting song... brutal Perfect Pitch Black reminds me of what Opeth did on their new cd "Ghost Reveries" were they combined their old style perfectly with their new style that was clearly heard on "Damnation" DON'T FORGET NEW KINGS X "OGRE TUNES" Just came out on the 27th. Which means I need to get my ass to a store and buy it, and so do all of you. If you like KX I also suggest getting Ty Tabors solo releases "Moonflower Lane" and "Safety". I actually enjoy these more than most KX albums (although Dogman and Manic Moonlight are my top 2) -------------------- yawn

I'm curious to see how they transfer us to BMG, might be a lucritive switch. BMG didn't have as good a selection and I was running out of stuff to get from CH. BUt hey, if I can buy cds as cheap as I was with CH I'll stay a member.Nice haul for a final purchase. The Zak Wylde is an interesting listen, and really threw me whe I bought it years ago. Very laid back with a cool vibe, but I couldn't help thinking about Hootie An The Blowfish during some of the songs Tell me what ya think of it. I pulled out some old ELO vinyl the other day. I used to love that band when I was a wee lad, now it just sounds dated to because of the vocals. TIME and DISCOVERY were fun when I was really young but after all the music I have taken in since then, those records have too much of a Bee Gees Saturday Night Fever thing happening... yuk
HA, thought I didn't see this huh!?
Uh anywas, I DO see the similareities btween Shadows and Hootie.....A friend just called that out the other day! He also mentioend another "po(o)p band, the dudes that do Mrs Jones and me.....I can't remeber their name, too drunk now I never got my ELO or Meatloaf, to tell you the truth. I am getting 2 vouchers for that. Other than that, it's cool that BMG gave me so may bonus points for "crossing over". --------------------

I still haven't gotten into SIGUR ROS even though they are a favorite of many people who also listen to Porcupine Tree. Like Radiohead, the singers voice is just whiney and pathetic and does nothing for me. I dig the spaces music and experimental element of both Radiohead and S.R. but the singing just fuckin ruins it for me. Kinda like the exact opposite of cookie monster vocals which also have the same effect on my ears. -------------------- yawn

today's cd haul:Kings X - Ogre Tunes (i wasn't sure i was going to buy this one because i wasn't thrill by the 30 second samples i heard, but i own everything they have released so far, so i had to buy it, and FUCK, it's a damn fine album, classix KX) The Beatles - Yellow Submarine (the remade version from 99 when they redid the movie) The Beatles - Help The Beatles - A Hard Days Night Earlier in the year I desided since I only had the Beatle Anthology 2 in my vast cd collection I purchased a bunch of Beatles cds but never picked up some of the earlier releases because I was never to fond of the poppy and cover stuff, but recently I was realizing I was missing certain songs by the Fab 4 that I really wanted in my collection, so I grab these 3 today. I bought the remastered and enhanced Yellow Submarine on dvd when it came out years ago. It's always been one of my favorite movies to watch because of the animation and music. The one problem I've always had is everytime I hear Sgt Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band I still can't get the images of Peter Frampton and the Bee Gees out of my head, because of that horrible movie they made and I saw once as a kid. -------------------- yawn
