VOIVOD - To The Death 84 (it was getting on my nerves not having this album yet)

I love the Sound City doc, but I wish they would have included all the interviews that were posted online as a bonus feature. I love the soundtrack also, especially the Rick Springfield song and the Lee Ving tune.

I still haven't had time to watch the Epitaph dvd. I thought they were going to release a full stage show concert dvd of the Nostradamus album. I guess that didn't go over well enough to make that a reality.

Yesterday a good friend let me freely rummage through the shelves of records at her thrift/pawn/antique store, and I came away with a bunch of decent vinyl that I thought I would rescue and give a good home to.
YES - Classic, The YES Album, Tales of Topographic Oceans, Fragile

TUBES - Completion Backwards Principal

KANSAS -Point of Know Return, Masque

SUPERTRAMP - Crisis? What Crisis?

Various Artists - California Jam 2 (Santana, Dave Mason, Heart, Ted Nugent, Aerosmith, Jean Michel Jarre, Frank Marino, Rubicon)

I've given them the initial wipedown with a micro fiber cloth and a homemade cleaning solution, and will now probably do the glue treatment to them all.

Me too, just started yesterday! Finished the Glenn Hughes one the other day. It wasn't bad, I already knew he was a major drug fiend but it was nice to hear personal stuff, like living with Linda Blair and having a fling with the Runaways singer. Some of the book does skip back and forth a lot and seems a bit jumbled, like when he said he had a gig in NYC but then met some people at the Rainbow after the show lol

I felt the same way about the Glen Hughes book. That's probably how his brain works also!!!

The Jourgensen book is going to be epic. I'm up to page 50 and it's pretty detailed and I like the additional input from from other people, like his step dad.

Thanks Mez. I'm finishing up the Ministry: The Lost Gospels According to Al Jourgensen, so I have a choice between the Zappa or the Alex Skolnick bio next. I'll probably read the Skolnick bio next since it won't be as heavy and deep as Zappa's life, and easier to read while I am on my lunch breaks at work.

I also received a cool book on artist Alex Grey "Transfigurations". He's the guy that did a lot of art for TOOL and their 10,000 Day album & tour.

Nice dinosaur there Amy! It's a great album, I think! AIC is doing it right!

Adding these to the archives today!

- Away: Cities [got one of the signed copies, very nice!!!]
- Black Flag: Damaged
- Black Flag: Slip It In
- Lucifer's Friend: Where The Groupies Killed The Blues
- Uriah Heep: Return To Fantasy [expanded deluxe edition]

The arrival of the Away CD also happily coincides with a much welcome 2 weeks of unemployment, haha. Haven't had a clean vacation without calls or emails for 6.5 years, seriously! Change is good.

And, were I brilliant, I would have used this for Ghost instead.

I wasn't too taken by the new AIC...I'll have to give it more playtime. I love the last one. And, I am surprised how quickly those Away discs are being mailed out. Can't wait to get mine.

I've given the new AiC a few spins and I'm not really into it. I get lost and bored 1/2 way through the album. There's just not much that grabs my attention and nothing that I feel a great groove from or a song that really grabs my attention and stands out. It doesn't suck, but it's not one I want to keep listening to.

Today's mail:
OVERKILL - Fuck You and then Some (limited edition 1 black vinyl, i black/orange/yellow mixed vinyl with side 4 being etched with a hand giving the worldwide FUCK YOU middle finger and no music)
