That's not the creepy skull/USB file set featured on his appearance on 'That metal Show' is it?? That is a brilliant idea, the files are like DVD/5.1 quality or something, total audiophile bliss

I have no clue what you're referring to. This is the box set that contains all his studio albums remastered plus a disc that contains what was on the rare "Additional Creatures" and a bunch or unreleased and rare tracks. Love Satch. Reading his autobiography now.

Today's mail:
MASTODON - Live in Brixton (double vinyl with dvd of the show - record store day release)

KING CRIMSON - Live in Berkeley CA - King Crimson Collectors Club which was sent free because I had the original version they released years ago but it was only a single cd and not the complete show... props to DGM for being so fuckin cool to their customers

Helmet - Seeing Eye Dog

Pearl Jam - 2013 North American Tour 25 shows cd box set

Overkill - Fuck You and Then Some ( 3 sided double vinyl with the 4th side being an etching of the hand tith the middle finger extended) I was hoping I was getting the new green vinyl version of this but it turned out to be the same version I already had which is limited to 500 copies, this being #308 and the 2nd record having a weird swirled color through the black wax. Oh well!

Got the new Swans LP "To Be Kind" in the mail this morning, along with tickets to Black Sabbath / Soundgarden / Faith No More in London in July... Can't believe Sabbath nicked Voivod's slot!

I've bought several albums lately.....mostly non-metal....but the one metal album I got that I thought would be a big winner was COC's Animosity. Boy was I wrong on that one. Absolute worst drumming ever...the songs had some merit but when your rhythm guy can't keep time its kind of distracting.

that's when COC were just a bunch of young hardcore punks still learning how to play.
I'm so glad they moved on from that style, although with Pepper gone they have more of that earlier hardcore vibe, but more refined.

The Animosity album was a massive part of my formative metal awareness. I discovered Corrosion Of Conformity in '85 through the Eye For An Eye album... still fresh into Venom, Slayer, & Metallica... they were one of my first diversions into hardcore... and soon crossover. Animisoty was the first I had heard punk guys playing (slightly sloppy) thrash metal? Hell yes! I love that record!

I've enjoyed just about every era of Corrosion Of Conformity. Somehow, they ended up being one of those bands I followed closely from Eye To An Eye through today... Love all the evolution and change they've gone through and happy as fuck that Reed is back with them (as it should be).

And hey, back on topic... Just one CD of stoner/doom metal, to round out the Las Cruces discography.

- Las Cruces: S.O.L.

A little bit of a binge today, but some stuff I couldn't really pass up.

Vinyl...
- Magma: Köhntarkösz
- Magma: Rétrospective Vol. 1 & 2
- Magma: Rétrospective Vol. 3
- Judas Priest: Unleashed In The East [99 cents! - a little dirty, but not bad at all]

CD...
- Led Zeppelin: Physical Graffiti [Japan mini-LP version]
- Manilla Road: Atlantis Rising

Found the Zeppelin first and it was the only missing piece in my finding their albums in the Japan mini-LP format, which are just cool. Magma stuff is exceptionally rare in these parts, so couldn't pass those buy either.

I'm estatic to have just found & purchased Sonny Sharrock's awe-inspiring 'ASK THE AGES' cd on Ebay. Somebody had just put it up for $21....usually you can't get it for less than $50....and I've seen it go for way higher than that. This is possibly my favorite piece of music of all time...the only album coming close to this for me would be Nothingface. If you've never heard of Sonny I'd strongly urge you to check him out. Here's the beautiful 'Who Does She Hope to Be' off it:

Mastodon-Once More Around the Sun

Just picked up from the ever decreasing shelf units at Best Buy. There are a couple of great tunes on there...Chimes at Midnight probably the most impressive. And a couple of duds: the title track was extremely boring. Never thought I'd say that about this band. Guess its only a matter of time.
