Nice Mez. I wonder, as soon as I read your "here's another Japanese band" line - why did I immediately guess which one you're talking about? Blimey, there must be more good Japanese bands than just this one!

Didn't listen to GW myself yet, but this track is encouraging. Their sound seems to be back to their IS/GG proggy era, which IMO is A Good Thing (TM).

Not current music, but I'm always in the mood for the Black Sabbath of Japan.

A wonderful country full of many creative people. Here is one more group I've been obsessed with for a long time. Live from their latest album. Quite brilliant stuff:

Lapatride, this band Fresh! quite literally blew my mind away. I'm serious, there are brains scattered all over the floor of my office! Incredible!....there's this wonderful spirit of Ornette / Mahavishnu & NYC art rock like the best of both of those worlds...and they make it work somehow, freaking brilliant....really really wonderful. I can't thank you enough for letting me know about them. And they're so young! Truly amazing.....gives me a lot of hope for the future of music when I see artists at their age going in this direction.....

Next question...where the hell did you order their music?

Sadly for Fresh I couldn't put my hand on the CD, but they are on Itunes. Their album is called What Are You Doing In This Confusion. For other japanese artits, you can buy on amazon.jp since they translate everything for the payment. And their shipping is ridiculously fast, 2 times I put my order saturday and was at my door monday.

I beg to differ. Empire might be a stepback of sorts, but Promised Land is clearly their best album, any way you look at it. Much deeper and more mature than Mindcrime.

Terrific, as always.

I just saw Rush in Buffalo. My wife got us really good seats about half way back on the floor. It was her 5th Anniversary present to me. I am very lucky she is awesome. The show was awesome as well. They even busted out some old chestnuts like most of 2112, Cygnus X-1, Xanadu, Working Man and Jacob's Ladder!!!
