The Prog Collective was a total let down... pretty damn boring. The Supertramp tribute has some good stuff on it, but the original versions are much better. Still nice to see them get a tribute from fellow musicians.today's mail: GENESIS - The Platinum Collection (still on my Genesis kick) you can always tell I'm single and not in a relationship when I dominate this thread... more than usual. -------------------- yawn

I don't know man....I've been on a spree to lately. I am actually buying more music than I have time to listen too. A very pleasant problem to have.Grateful Dead- Dick's Picks Vol. 4 (Live at the Fillmore East....love this era of the Dead..and this particular set is awesome..way better than their official live albums) Alice In Chains- Facelift (Haven't heard this one since it first came out when I'd bought it on tape..this should be fun) Robby Krieger- No Habla

I have a couple things by DiAnno. He can be hit or miss with his releases.. Nothing is ever going to top what he did in Maiden. I remember when that GOOGMAGOOG project came out years ago and I was so excited because it had DiAnno, Clive Burr, Pete Willis (who gave Def Lepp their balls) and a couple other guys, and then when I played it ... TOTAL SHIT!!!! Sold my copy many years ago and at least I made a profit,, which was the best thing I could say for Googmagoog. Battle Zone was pretty cool from what I remember. $hannon is definitely Ozzy brain. Ozzy has certainly been blessed with having talented lyricist with him all through his career.. Granted his voice and melody lines help make the song, but even Ozzy couldn't polish shit lyrics to make them cool. Bob wrote a lot of classic songs, and Shannon was stupid for letting him go. -------------------- yawn

So glad to inspire ya, Dave! Let me know how the book is I've been on some insanely pseudo-homo 80's hard rock/glam thing lately, but the more I listen, these bands aren't glam at all--I'm talking about W.A.S.P. and Dokken Yes, early WASP and early Dokken to me aren't glam, just hard rock; more in the vein of metal, given the guitar riffage. I think with the right direction these bands would have been total metal acts and not submerged so much into the "hair metal/buttrock" quagmire. I'm rambling again LOL. Point of story: Re-discover WASP and Dokken. (80's) PS: I've been listening to them since '84 anyways, I was sucked into the media crap --------------------

A nice little haul of new CDs from a used shop I hit up in Grand Forks, ND this week. Some stuff I'd never owned on CD before and they were stupid cheap.Blue Oyster Cult - Cultosaurus Erectus Scorpions - Taken By Force Rush - Power Windows (I`d forgotten how shitty this album was lol) David Gilmour - About Face Alice Cooper - Welcome to My Nightmare Ozzy - Bark at the Moon A little note about Bark at the Moon (and especially interesting considering the earlier post... quote: Originally posted by newclear infusion: This might clear the air a little bit! I didn`t notice that the CD I bought was a remaster, I thought it was merely a reissue, but as soon as it started playing I knew there was a huge difference in the sound compared to the record that I`ve spun a thousand times over the years. I knew that Blizzard and Diary had been rerecorded (and I still have the original `95 remasters of those and the vinyl), but man, did they ever butcher Bark in the remastering. The mix is terrible, some lead bits are different takes, and it`s just plain NOT the record I know rather well I must say. Interesting to have in the collection, but there was no need to remix the record.
