Finally found...
Napalm Death - Enemy of the Music Business
Every so often you buy a new cd, press play, and are immediately amazed and relieved to have found something that sounds like a little slice of heaven. I love this cd!
Also picked up:
Carcass: Swan Song
Napalm Death: Noise for Music's Sake

AND, a nice brand new cd player.

I just ordered a nice 7.1 surround sound receiver and speakers for the new house!!! I CAN'T WAIT!!!

Helmet "Size Matters" came out last Tuesday.

I had to put the majority of my 5600 cd in storage until the house is ready

Woo-Hoo!! When's the house warming party, schroeder?!?
What, ONLY 5600 cds?!?
You da man, schroeder, you Da Man!

CORONER - Grin;
DARKTHRONE - Ravishing Grimness;
KING DIAMOND - Fatal Portrait.

Now, if ye olde wives were smart, they'd take the seas of cd's with them....Is there some way to work that into a pre-nup? I'd be super happy to "inherit" a load of cds.

Er...no new music in my queue at this moment.

I don't listen to them all at once but there are a lot that are just for collecting purposes (i.e. promos, rare releases, different pressings of the same disc, etc). I gave up a lot, to be able to keep the majority of my cds in the divorce, and I gave her the ones she liked, which didn't matter very much to me since she doesn't like what I'm into (Voivod, Porcupine Tree, King Crimson...) She was trying to to fuck with months ago my saying she was taking 1/2 the music even though she doesn't like most it, she just wanted to hurt me, because she knows what the collection means to me...that just about pushed me over the edge, but made me realize that I'm a bit to obsessive with my collection, and actually threw a bunch of cds away that I really didn't listen to anymore, when I was packing up to move.

Anyway, I picked up the 3cd set of Dream Theater - live @ Budakan (the dvd was god-like and had to have the audio of it. LaBrie FINALLY sings like he's got some agression. Maybe he got sick of hearing the millions of LaBrie clones and figured he needed to have some 'edge' to his voice, which I thought he needed for years)

I SOLD THE HOUSE TODAY
So how else do you think I'd celebrate than to go buy a bunch of cds:
CAVE IN - UNTIL YOUR HEART STOPS

ISIS - PANOPTICON (H always write about this band so that was a good enough recommendation)

BOARDS OF CANDA - GEOGADDI (seen this name pop up on some Porcupine Tree forums, so figured I'd give it a shot)

THE BEATLES - ABBEY ROAD + MAGICAL MYSTERY TOUR + LET IT BE + RUBBER SOUL + SGT PEPPER'S... + REVOLVER + THE WHITE ALBUM (strangely enough I really only had 1 Beatles cd in my collection 'yellow submarine' so since I found all the used I thought it was a good way to beef up the collection, and make me realize I'm getting old )

Fates Warning - FWX
Certainly not the best album they ever did, especially when keeping Disconnected and the several side projects (OSI, John Arch) in mined, but still very good and miles above most other progmetal bands.

I have been listening to their first quite a bit lately since rediscovering Neurosis....hmm....Schroeder can't say whether you'd like the singer....that turned me off for a long time, the music is amazing though...looking forward to this new one.

And Mega-Congrats on the sale of your house!!!!!

Thanks for the 'congrats' mez. I haven't made it all the way through the ISIS cd but what I've listened to is mostly instrumental with some butal voals but, I'm diggin it.

The earlier CAVE IN disc through me for aloop, at how different it is from Antennae, which I have been overdosing on lately... I fuckin love everything about that cd: cool music, cool words, great singing, great diversity... everything I could want in an album. "Until Your Heart Stops" is way more brutal than anything I expected, very death, hardcore. I need to listen to this and not think about the CAVE IN I'm used to listening to... very interesting that this is how they started and got to where they are now!!!

I downloaded some tunes from Cave In to give it a try: at first listen I don't like Antenna much, because of the vocals; but Until Your Heart Stops sounds great!
"Jupiter" sounds more like Antenna, "Beyond Hypothermia" is more death/hardcore with weird prog parts like Until Your Heart Stops.
I wasn't sure it was all the same band...

btw they're on tour now, I think it's in your area

I think more people on this forum would enjoy the earlier style of CAVE IN moreso than the newer material. I was on their site for a while last night, and read that they realized they had to change their style (primarily the singing) so they wouldn't get pigeon-holed as a death metal act for the rest of their carreer, and so the singer wouldn't destroy his voice by conuing to vocalize in the death metal growl style... I'm glad they changed but I'm sure they lost a lot of early fans by doing so; howevr their new style I'm sure gained them a bigger audience.

They are in Philadelphia on a night I work, so unfortunatley I doubt I'll make it to the show.

Heh, the Napalm Death cover of Riot of Violence is pretty damned cool. Haven't heard the rest of that album, though, I'm waiting for "The Code is Red... Long Live the Code". Jesse or no, looks like another good year for napalm fans.

Nasum - Shift
Decrepit Birth - ...And Time Begins

Even if Decrepit were crappy, which they certainly aren't, I would've bought it for the artwork alone. Awesome stuff, it's my wallpaper at the moment.

The rest of the album is really good as well. Their cover of Hate, Fear and Power is excellent. Every song is great but the ones that I am more familiar with really stand out like the Kreator, Hirax and Agnostic Front. I need to go find Leaders Not Followers Vol. 1 now.

Been buying/trading a lot of CDs lately...

MEGADETH - Countdown to Extinction (for a ridiculously low price);
VOIVOD - Lives (digipack edition, thanks to Nuno!);
MINISTRY - Animositisomina (also thanks to Nuno);
ANGRA - Temple of Shadows;
MAN... OR ASTRO MAN? - Your Weight On The Moon;
THE BEATLES - Revolver (my old vinyl surely needed some rest, it's actually a 1966 edition! );
KILLSWITCH ENGAGE - The End Of Heartache (great "modern" metal, not far from newer In Flames);
RATOS DE PORÃO - Periferia 1982 (ooooooooooold!);
CELTIC FROST - Parched With Thirst Am I And Dying (for ridiculous ten brazilian bucks, i.e., US$ 3);
NAPALM DEATH - Leaders Not Followers Part 2.

hail the evil forces!

Ratos de Porao - Sistemado pelo Crucifa
(I was broke when this one came out, now I have a real copy...)
great re-recording of the first album Crucificado Pelo Sistema, with the full 18 minutes of the original release as a 'hidden' bonus track
Goatsnake - 1 + Dog Days [re-issue]
Goatsnake - Trampled under hoof
Nebula - To The Center
Fear Factory - Archetype
+ bonus live DVD
Sigh - Imaginary Sonicscape
this band is absolutely fascinating, and the recent Necrophagia releases with Mirai are awesome too..

Sarcofago - Rotting
Found this one used for a low price. Old kvlt death/thrash...
Nasum - Shift
GRIND!!!
Riverside - Out Of Myself
Something completely different. Dark, atmospheric prog. Might be of interest for fans of Porcupine Tree, Opeth, Anathema. Sehr gut!
