I got King Diamond's Abigail (the 25th Anniversary of Roadrunner edition).

Oh.

My.

GAWD!!

The actual audio cd is the same as the 1997 remaster (which means it has 4 bonus tracks; Shrine, and three rough mixes), but the dvd that's bundled with it rules. It's a gig from Gothenberg, Sweden 1987 and while the quality isnt as pristine as one wouldve hoped , it's hella good. It's a nice two-cams mix bootleg video. AND!! It has all three King Diamond promo videos with it (in mono tho, booooo).

My only gripe with it: the booklet is GLUED to the digipack. Bah!!

No Return - No Return [2006] - I think it was recorded in 2004. Fast tech-thrash, more death metal than before; no samples used this time.
New singer, bassist and drummer (Boban, ex-Korum), but he didn't play on this album - drums were recorded by Dirk from Scarve.
www.noreturn.info

No Return - Self Mutilation

Deceased - As The Weird Travel On

Devourment - Butcher the Weak
Ufomammut - Lucifer Songs [CD + DVD, 1000 numbered copies]

Equinox - Return To Mystery - shit, it isn't the thrash band I was thinking of, it's kinda black/death. This one is Equinox [US], not Equinox from Norway...

Thought Industry - Outer Space Is Just A Martini Away - maybe not as good as "Mods Carve the Pig: Assassins, Toads and God's Flesh" but some good stuff here too...

Blue Oyster Cult - Secret Treaties (remasted with bonus tracks)

Dead Soul Tribe - The Dead Word

Kix - Minight Dynamite (my ex-wife got all the Kix cds when we split and was jonesin' to hear some home town bar metal last week and realized I needed to replce a coule of their classic albums)

VINTERSORG - The Focusing Blur;

ROTTING CHRIST - Sanctus Diavolos;

VOIVOD - DVOD1;

JUDAS PRIEST - Live at Rock in Rio 2 (bootleg DVD).

"Forty-five moments of perfection translated through a cautionary escape into the perils of the mundane, the inherent entropy in ultimate order, and the potential threats of eternal, unchecked apathy in civilization; all cloaked in musical expression so thoughtful, creative and forward thinking that almost a quarter-century later, few can even comprehend it, much less match it." Arcturus - Sideshow Symphonies

It's not often that I turn a record off before listening to the whole thing, just in case there's a gem on there. Not this time. Dissapointing as I'd been told it was "amazing". I think they forgot to finish the sentence with "-ly bad"...

S'funny, I liked Sideshow Symphonies on the first listen (I think I posted some sort of stupid fawning shit when I got it in another section), but now I've come to the conclusion that, compared to other Arcturus stuff (and thinking about it, most other things), it just falls flat. No invention, no interest, it's just boring.

Previous stuff is much, much better.

I know you all were wondering why I haven't purchased anything lately

Picked up used:
Flotsam & Jetsam - Dreams Of Death (I told myself if i find it used I'll buy it. once again nothing ground breaking from F&J, but a decent album)

Soilworks - Stabbing The Drama (the cool thing about this is the band autographed it on the cover, on the inside booklet, and on the cd iteself. I only saw the signatures on the front cover when I bought it for $8 and thought it was odd they all signed it 2 more times inside. cool disc

also picked up a bunch of sappy stuff from BMG cheap. Acceptance, Coheed and Cabria, Abandoned Pools, & Dark New Day

The Devin Townsend Band - Synchestra (even higher recommended than any other highly recommended album, this is a work of pure GENIUS!)
Dummy Burger - Stormblast 2005 (including some bonus dvd, well well...)

Also I got a whole shitload of vinyl, which I got from our team manager at woik, he had to get rid of it. About 80 or 90 titles, most interesting: The Best Of Aphrodite's Child, 6 Kate Bush albums, 'La Folie' by The Stranglers, Jesus Christ Superstar (rock opera) with Ian Gillan starring as Jesus himself and a few ABBA lp's...
