The Motorhead book was just a condensed year to year detailing of what the band did nothing incredible. There's no great inside stories of the road or studio, for that that read Lemmy's autobiography. Just goes over who was in the band, when they left, who replaced them. Talks about some places they played each year, the festivals, special guests, radio performances, yadda yadda yadda. Great pictures and packaging, The coolest thing I found out was that the artist for all the really cool badass Mororhead album art, Joe Petagno, has a book of his own out with his art... of course I ordered it from Amazon. The book was written by the guy who I believe runs the fan club, so of course there's nothing bad said about any of the releases.I have 10 Motorhead cds, and a couple of the live dvds. Reading books like this usually gives me the desire to go buy everything else I don't already have, but after listening to samples of the albums I don't have and listening to the ones I do have, I really didn't see the point in buying the rest of the catalog. I enjoy Motorhead, but so much of their material sounds the same. My favorite album is Another Perfect Day, so I guess the one album Brian Robertson plays on really made a big difference to my ears. Every metalhead should have a couple Motorhead albums in their collection. I think I'll enjoy the Dee Snider book a lot more. It's kind of nice to read about someone that's been in the metal or rock scene that's NOT a drug addict and had to go through rehab 30 times. It will also probably get me to finally buy a couple Twisted Sister cds for my collection... I have none!!! Under The Blade will probably be the first. -------------------- yawn

Hex, you don't own any Motorhead?! That is unusual for any metal listening person. What is it that you don't like?I'm a big fan of everything Motorhead has done up though about Orgasmatron... after that, I am in the same camp as Dave in that the early releases give me all the Motorhead I need. No complaints about Lemmy's voice from me though! Love it! Found a copy of this today and cashed in a full frequent buyer card to get it for free. - Infernal Majesty: None Shall Defy -------------------- I am a robot... bleep blop bloop

Oh, I'm in the "have all CDs" category when it comes to Motorhead. I like'em all, some more than others, of course, and I suppose it's natural after so many years and so many albums that a band becomes a bit redundant. Even so, there are true gems in the recent Motorhead catalog. I personally recommend Overnight Sensation, Inferno and We Are Motorhead, they are all great albums. And Another Perfect Day is also my all time favourite. And Schroeder, as far as TS goes, you can't go wrong with any of their first 3 albums, Under the Blade, You Can't Stop Rock'n'Roll and Stay Hungry. -------------------- "Forty-five moments of perfection translated through a cautionary escape into the perils of the mundane, the inherent entropy in ultimate order, and the potential threats of eternal, unchecked apathy in civilization; all cloaked in musical expression so thoughtful, creative and forward thinking that almost a quarter-century later, few can even comprehend it, much less match it." BTW, bought AC/DC's Live at River Plate CD. Nothing new, same as the DVD, it's the same concert after all, but being the AC/DC completist that I am... -------------------- "Forty-five moments of perfection translated through a cautionary escape into the perils of the mundane, the inherent entropy in ultimate order, and the potential threats of eternal, unchecked apathy in civilization; all cloaked in musical expression so thoughtful, creative and forward thinking that almost a quarter-century later, few can even comprehend it, much less match it." Those are the exact 3 Twisted Sister albums I put on my Amazon wish list for futures purchases, and those are the exact 3 Motorhead albums I don't have that looked like I should have after reading the book. I do know the material Twisted Sister released after Stay Hungry was a bit lame. I think I still have a couple vinyl promo albums from working at Record World in the 80's of TS, unless I tossed them or sold them. I remember Love is for Suckers was horrible. Got this in the mail today (actually I think it's been on my porch since yesterday and just now realized it this morning) -------------------- yawn

The Fast Eddie era rules for me, but Another Perfect Day is one of my faves - I put it on on Voivods tour bus once and watched Away grinning and playing air drums to it! He told me they once covered the whole album, just for fun. I'd pay to hear that rehearsal!

Today in my mail: The Bloody Reign of Slayer, by Joel McIver, brazilian portuguese translation. Book looks promissing, translation is shit tho. -------------------- "Forty-five moments of perfection translated through a cautionary escape into the perils of the mundane, the inherent entropy in ultimate order, and the potential threats of eternal, unchecked apathy in civilization; all cloaked in musical expression so thoughtful, creative and forward thinking that almost a quarter-century later, few can even comprehend it, much less match it."
