Paganini - Violin Concertos & 24 Caprices.

Fucking heck, I thought Yngwie was a flash bastard - get a load of this guy! Mad demon worshipping, groupie shagging widdle-merchant. That said, the concerto has very nice un-boring slow bits n' all.

Unlike Bach, which is a two minute money shot sandwiched between two hours of dull & useless dirge.

Krux - s/t

New band featuring members from Entombed and Candlemass. Raw, melodic, slightly psychedelic Doom Metal. Highly recommended. Especially for those who remember (and like) Abstrakt Algebra.

Hey Helicopter,

You should check out a classical guitar player named Eliot Fisk. He's freakin' amazing. Anyway, I have a CD of Paganini pieces that he does on guitar. It's amazing. I even saw him do it live. He's out of this world on the guitar.

I just picked up "Hell Below/Stars Above" from the Toadies. Good strong album. I'm pretty enthusiastic about it. They have a non manufactured energy about them. Have you guys heard them? They're not quite punk, not quite metal, not quite grunge. It's a cool blend of all of that. It's a cut above the "alternative" crap they play out here in LA. Good hooks. Great singer. Anybody else have this impression of them?

Mean Mustard, are they the ones who had that extremely annoying single out a couple of years ago with the singer screaming about Jesus behind the toolshed or something. Man, I hated that. Course this was just one song....

Geeezzz, boys and girls, I ton of good music today. First, in the mail I get an excellent collection of metal from our good friend Nuclear Vampire. Holy cow!! Dude loaded me up with some Dimmu, Amon Amarth, a great mix cd, plus the incomparable Iced Earth.
Then I happened to drop by the only halfway decent record store in A-town and noticed two little Z beauties in their used bin. Check this out: You Can't Do that Onstage Anymore Vol.2(Yes, the 1974 Helsinki concert with my favorite Zappa band- Duke, Fowler, Underwood, and Thompson)two cds of music for EIGHT FUCKING dollars!!! This kind of thing gives you the shakes. To top it off they also had a live FZ bootleg Freaks and Motherfuckers from 1970 also for EIGHT FUCKING Dollars!!! I couldn't believe I had found these two babies.

So I'm one happy sob tonight!!!

The Helsinki Concert! One of my Zappa favourites!

Today I found:
Black Sabbath - Seventh Star
Black Sabbath - The Eternal Idol
Both used vinyls, none of 'em are really great but I just want 'em for the collection.

New cd's:
John Coltrane - A Love Supreme (special edition with bonus-cd containing live versions and some alternate takes)
John Coltrane - Giant Steps
Death - The Sound Of Perseverance

Angelrat: I really like those 2 Sabbath albums. They've never been the same without Ozzy, or Dio for that matter, but Eternal Idol and 7th Star, I really dig.

OVERKILL "KILLBOX 13" IS A GREAT CD These guys need to show Metallica how the old school is suppose to shred. Brutal as always

You're right!
'Eternal Idol' is already growing on me. Nice album. 'Seventh Star'? Dunno yet. Some very cool songs. Some less intersting ones also.

New:
Fates Warning - Night On Brocken / The Spectre Within (both albums on double-cd, used and very cheap)

Dude, I hated that song too. And I held it against the band for a long time. But I'm with Mustard on this one. Hell Below is an awesome rock album with some mean riffs and a vocalist who knows how to belt it out. Good call, man.

I have that. It's pretty good. Some of the band are ex-At The Drive In and you can tell. Sounds like ATDI crossed with Fugazi. Good stuff. My buddy at work is burning their other album for me.

Today I got these beauties used:

Cradle Of Filth - Midian had it on CDR, now I got the real deal. Excellent album.

Slayer - South of Heaven another one I have on vinyl already. Classic Slayer.

H - If you like OSI and you haven't already heard CHROMA KEY...you're missing out.

Received the new Anthrax - We've Come For You All. Upon first listen it didn't blow me away, but I didn't hate it either. I think it will grow on me like the new Voivod, which I LOVE now.
