I just picked up these for the collection. Time to put the vinyl aside!

Judas Priest - British Steel (remaster)
Judas Priest - Defenders Of The Faith (remaster)
Rush - Grace Under Pressure (remaster)

Anyone who is a Cirith fan can get a copy of the two disc set by contacting me at:

moonglum22@yahoo.com

I promise a quality CD cassette!
I do not recommend buying though, mediocre at best.

Much appreciated would a trade of either Voivod demos or Coroner Death Cult demo.

Wow. some great stuff here...BOC's Curse of the Hidden Mirror is my favourite album of 2001. Don't know why but I guess it has some great riffs. The choruses aren't that good but I guess seeing them live turned the tables for me.

My latest purchases are

On LP:

Steeleye Span - Parcel of Rogues
Humble Pie - Lost and Found (2LP)
Joan Baez - In Concert vol. 1
Joan Baez - In Concert vol. 2
Jethro Tull - A (just to complete my Tull collection)

I got that Priest Remasters box set at Christmas, but only now am I beginning to see what truely awesome records Sin After Sin, Stained Class and Killing Machine are.

Killing Machine is practically THE text book metal album, and 'Sinner' is the greatest song Queen never wrote. Fucking brilliant stuff!

I have to say, though, that one of my favourite Priest tracks is the bonus one from Stained Class - 'Fire Burns Below' which is from the Ram It Down sessions. (why it wasn't on Ram It Down, even as a bonus, is beyond me). If only Halford wasn't straining his voice on it, and relaxed a bit like on 'Last Rose..' or 'Dreamer/Deceiver' or something. Sounds like he's 'pushing one out'. Still, a wonderful track.

Right, some are better than others, but apart from Stained Class, 'Defenders' has 'Turn On Your Light', which is a ballad with just Halford and Tipton playing.

Also pretty good is 'All Fired Up' from the Turbo remaster. Thats if you like the Turbo stuff, if not don't bother.

'Living Bad Dreams' from Painkiller is actually from the Painkiller sessions and it goes quite well with the rest of the album. Also on Painkiller is a live version of Leather Rebel, which if nothing else proves KK's point that Halford was loosing his voice on that last tour. Not that you could say he hasn't got it back now, but it is pretty ropey. Maybe just a bad night?

The rest of the live tracks dotted round the remasters are all very good, especially 'Better That You...' on Stained Class.

'Fight For Your Life', from Killing Machine, is an early version of 'Rock Hard, Ride Free'. Its not that good in itself, but is a very interesting glimps at their writting process and makes you aprreciate how good the songs on 'Defenders' really are.

You know, I'm beginning to worry about how much time I spend humming Priest tunes. It's healthy for a 15 year old but I'm 29 next week!

I personally like Prisoner Of Your Eyes (Screaming For Vengeance) best out of the bonus tracks. Race With The Devil (Sin After Sin) is one of their best covers.
Most of the bonus material is from the Turbo sessions. Turbo was originally intended to be a doulbe album, but the record company nixed that so some songs ended up on Ram It Down and some just went into the vaults.
Using a listing of known tracks from the Turbo session (as mentioned by the band in various interviews and Re-Master liner notes), here are the 18 tracks that were slated for Twin Turbos (original tracklist order unknown):

Released on Turbo:
1. Turbo Lover
2. Locked In
3. Private Property
4. Parental Guidance
5. Rock You All Around The World
6. Out In The Cold
7. Wild Nights, Hot & Crazy Days
8. Hot For Love
9. Reckless

Released on Ram It Down:
10. Ram It Down
11. Hard As Iron
12. Love You To Death
13. Monsters Of Rock

Released on the Re-Masters series:
14. Red, White & Blue
15. Prisoner Of Your Eyes
16. All Fired Up

Still unreleased:
17. Under The Gun
18. Fight For Your Love

One other song was recorded during the Turbo sessions, but was not intended for the double Turbo album - "Turn On Your Light".

Office Of Strategic Influence

upon listening to 1/2 of the cd last night...IT'S INCREDIBLE. Moore, Matheos (and Wilson) are a great great together. Their styles work perfectly with each other, and I hope this will not be the only release.

OSI sounds like a complete blend of Chroma Key and Fates Warning (which makes sense) but the stand out track is SHUT DOWN written by Matheos and Steve Wilson.
Atmospheric, grooves, great guitar playing, cool keyboards and effects. I dig it.

Ah, I just spent my Birthday record vouchers:

Judas Priest - Priest...Live! (remaster, to complete my box set. YES!!! Its finally complete!! Dig those costumes.)

UFO - Phenomannon (?) because I've just heard Obsession and it fucking rocks, and this was only a tenner.

Johhny Cash - the new one, because his version of NIN's Hurt is mindblowingly good.

Still got money left over for VV, and maybe Cave IN. SYL I wasn't too impressed with, tell the truth, so I passed on it.

I was at Dollorama yesterday (it's a chain of shops here in quebec where everything is 1$) to buy some crap and i saw a bunch of cds there.. obviously there was tons of useless shit in there but something caught my eye. I bought a Kula Shaker cd...! Ha! I figured they'd be progressive, and it turns out that it's quite a good album, too. It's called Peasants, Pigs & Astronauts.

Music that's perfect to make me become a stoner all over again.

I liked the video a lot! Does the dvd have bonus material?

I have always thought that the "Dave Prichard" story was tragic and very sad.

The Armoured Saint has lots of extra videos, interview sections, photos and more. I think I would have rather watched a full Saint concert with the full blown 5.1 sound hower, instead of different songs from different eras, which would have made great bonus material. Overall I'm happy with it.

With members of Fates Warning-Dream theatre etc, this is really an unusual and cool as hell effort.Reminds me to K.Crimson. Tool,
P.Floyd and others.(blended and shaked)
It stays in the cd player alot in rotation
w/Nothingface and right now, Captain Beyonds first cd. ;o) Prowman

Yeah man, i have 2 friends that i sat down with for a listenning session that are both real-metal/prog freaks, and they wouldnt let me leave!!-lol -Its sounds excellent..
Its very unusal, as the quality of the sound
is primo, and the songs themselves are very unique. For me, it was one of the rare discs that i liked each and every song ....
It comes in a 1 cd version and a 2 cd version w/ "set the controls for the heart of the sun" and 2 more.
Its my fav new cd )excluding the new Voivod stuff) ;o) Prowman

Since the new Voivod wasn't in store yesterday , i've bought : Children of bodom - Tokyo Warheart (Live). Those '' kids'' are damn hot live performers . The song touched by an angel of death is damn hot but the keyboard's solo in the song makes me eek because the keyboardist is fucked by the rhythm of the crowd clapping in their hands and he doesn't follow the rhythm because of that ...

Aside from the kick ass Voivod album, (yeah, I like it alot), I picked up the new Crimson CD. Awesome, of course. Looking forward to seeing them live in a couple of weeks.

I also picked up a disc from the band Pulse Ultra. Mixed feelings at this point. I'd definitely like to hear where this band goes musically. The vocals are trying for me at times, but they're not terrible. Overall, a strong debut album. The band is pretty tight. Anyone else know of these guys? Anyone? Anyone? Anyone?
