Fuck man, there's more decent bands in Winnipeg than there is in Toronto, that's for sure now.

Shit, I remember Corpus Vile. They were pretty decent. Saw them open for many bands back in the day - the Dayglo Abortions show at The Cauldron Club was amazing.

Kittens rule. Canada's answer to The Melvins. My band opened for them a few times. They were much better live than on CD. We sucked.

Oh yeah, today I found a CD I never thought I'd ever find used. Thanks to the moron with bad musical taste that traded in:

Enslaved - Blodhemn

Fucking amazing. Way harsher than their more recent material, but the Viking Choral vocal thing is happening and the riffs are fierce and mean. Me very happy now.

E force - Evil Forces
some solid thrash here... at least those guys have better distribution than Voivod since it's already in stores... cool artwork, reminiscent of late 80s sleeves...

Voïvod - The Outer Limits (US pressing)

...next, why did I bother to ask that guy if he had Voïvod vynils? I had done this so many times, in vain... I still don't know...
but I know for sure that if I hadn't done that, I couldn't fuck around boasting that I have Nothingface on vynil now... a mere 15 €uros, about $13...

can't seem to find that new Edge of Sanity though, guess I'll have to order it...

Sad to hear about that. As a great Thin Lizzy fan I could only recommend the Video "LIVE AND DANGEROUS". Have that myself and also on vinyl and CD. Very good sound on the vinyl and CD......

Cheers!

I just got back in town from the U.S. where I thought I'd find a ton of stuff, but only walked away with these. However I am EXTREMELY happy with these purchases:

Iced Earth - Days Of Purgatory (2 CD Set)

The God Machine - Scenes From The Second Storey This was an unexpected gem. I hear it has gone for up to $50.00 on e-bay. I only paid $7.00 too!

Iron Maiden - Raising Hell DVD One of Bruce's last shows before he left in 1993. Maybe The last one, I'm not too sure...gonna watch it right away.

Saw a couple of other things I'm kinda kicking myself for not buying, but the prices weren't too good (especially when you add the exchange rate on the Canadian dollar. I'll just wait for them to show up here...

Annki:
Yeah,I was really pissed off after watching that DVD.It was released by Rhino so I figured that since those guys did a stellar job on the Ramones Remasters that anything else they touch would kick ass.....wrongo boyo.
Looks like they just took an old VHS tape and transferred it without any serious upgrading.

Nuclear Vampire:I also snagged that God Machine cd earlier this year...for $1.99 CDN!!

NUC VAMP: regarding: "Iron Maiden - Raising Hell DVD One of Bruce's last shows before he left in 1993. Maybe The last one, I'm not too sure...gonna watch it right away."

I've had this for a while now and the audio is SO SHITTY it's not worth watching. I thought my first copy was flawed but my next replacement was as bad, so it's jast a lousy mix. I was totally upset since I'm a huge Maiden fan and was hoping to hear and see them in all their glory, but the audio ruins the entire show.

Let me know how your's is.

I just finished watching the first half of it and yes, the audio is pretty bad. Not like bootleg quality or anything, just a bad mix. Supposedly in 5.1 too, but I don't have a surround system so...

Bruce's vocals get buried in the mix sometimes and the drums are not loud enough. Steve's bass could stand a little boost too. Dave's guitar is way louder than Janick's (which normally is a good thing ) but the real problem...

The performance SUCKS. Let me rephrase that - Dave Murray is terrible. I can't believe I just typed that. One of my fave guitarists but his playing that night is just plain bad. His timing is WAY off at times and some of his solos just blow. I don't know what the fuck he was on that night, but it definetly was not a performance ENHANCING substance. Some part are great, but there's many where he just sort of loses it and he still has that shit eating grin on his face! The only one who seems to notice it is Bruce. The other guys are smiling, running around and having a blast (as Maiden always do live) but Bruce doesn't seem to happy. The tensions that were in the group at that time are definetly showing on his face. He doesn't look like he's really into it at times. Maybe he's cheesed at Dave's bad playing, I don't know, but Bruce doesn't exactly have his timing down on this show either.

The song selection is good (Transylvania was a great addition) and the video is good quailty, but the big issue I have is Dave "I'm so fucking high I can't play" Murray and Bruce "I can't wait to get off the fucking stage" Dickinson's shoddy performances.

Still, it's Maiden and I love 'em like family, which means I take the good with the bad.

Up the irons.

Damn good review on the DVD Nuc, and I couldn't agree more. As for the 5.1 mix...I have a killer system and this is just SHIT to play thru it. There's NO separation of channels, and makes for a horrible video. The magician thing was STUPID to say the least .

This along with:
Fates Warning - Live at the Dynamo
and
Alice Cooper - Welcome To My Nightmare

are the 3 worst sounding concerts in my DVD collection, which is a shame because I was really looking forward to all 3 of these DVDs, only to be pissed off and dissapointed in the quality.

Out of almost 60 concerts on DVD I guess that's not too bad.
