About the "Alice-N-Chains" part...I live here in Bremerton, WA and they used to frequent the old "Natasha's" that has seen the likes of G.B.H., The Melvins, C.O.C, The Accused, Destruction, M.O.D., D.R.I., Kreator, and Foghat of all people!!! But when I used to cruise around town finding shit to do about 10-15 years ago when all of this was going on..."Alice in Chains" was a big (hair) attraction/joke to see...and they played "a lot" over here before they were big (hair) believe me!!!

Finally got round to picking up the new Queens of the Stone Age. And it bored me shitless to tell the truth. I really liked the first 2 records, but this one seems a little un-inspired to me. Only had one listen though, I may give it another chance.
Also grabbed Mastadon's Remission (along with a rather nice Voivod shirt from Relapse). Blasting it now. Sounds great so far.
I went hunting for the new King Crimson, but couldn't find the bastard! That's no.1 on my list.

Got a Judas Priest boot, from a gig of theirs on the Milwaukee Summerfest, last July 7th. They came here last year (September 7th), so I wanted to check out how their gig is nowadays, and I found some differences: more "Demolition" tunes (Bloodsuckers, One On One, Hell is Home, and no Machine Man, unfortunately), and some surprises, Devil's Child (!), Exciter (!!) and... Turbo Lover (!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!). The latter is not a good song to play live, to say the least. The rest is the usual quality Priest show.

Quality Band. Have you heard the first cd? Can't remember what it's called now. Has a blue cover with a shark on it. Well worth picking up, even though the production is a bit drum heavy.
After they did 'Crawl' they changed their name to Gorrila and released a couple of demo's. The first one rocked. I still have that somewhere. Think they split up not long after.

Hey Slaytanic,I got that Priest boot too and I agree about Turbo Lover. It sucks live. It has the potential to be a real rocker live, but it sounds kind of forced and rushed. Bloodsuckers and Hell Is Home sound great though. Exciter is amazing. Painkiller by Ripper has always disappointed me. He just cvan't hit those notes. Mind you, Rob probably can't either.

Yep, you're right. My memory is for shit sometimes... well, most times.
I'd recommend Chasm. I prefer it myself. It's a little more groove-inspired and alot more guitar heavy.

(I really love this one)
-Motorpsycho - It's a Love Cult (as cool as ever)
-Peter Gabriel - Up (something different, impressive album anyway)
-Miles Davis - Kind of Blue
-Thee Plague Of Gentlemen - Demo-CD (Belgian Sludge/Doom-band, just saw them live, they're HEAVY as fuck!)

And some vinyl of course:
-Celtic Frost - Into the Pandemonium (only had it on cd, missed the beautiful gatefold sleeve there)
-Arcturus - Aspera Hiems Symfonia (double vinyl including some EP-trax and some unreleased bonus stuff)
-Darkthrone - Transilvanian Hunger
-Candlemass - Epicus Doomicus Metallicus (rerelease with live bonus LP)
-Loudness - Live-Loud-Alive

Looks like I accidentally got annihalated again last weekend (I drank at least 8-10 pints of Hoergaarden at the Lennox Pub and then I seriously started to drink!!! ) and when I finally come to my senses again, I found much to my surprise and horror that I am now am the proud owner of the following C.D.'s:

Frank Zappa - Strictly Commercial (I love this album!!!)

Electric Light Orchestra - Greatest Hits (I only listened to this album like 10,000 times when I was a severally bored kid and now it looks like am about to do it all over again!)

Judas Priest - Living After Midnight (Sorry King Kula, I couldn't find the 73 to 93 compilation C.D. so had to settle for this one but as far as I am concerned, it still kicks butt!!!)

And now for the shocker...
Daryl Hall and John Oates - The Very Best Of (I am really not insane you know... YES I AM!!!)

You're absolutely right, Turbo Lover sounds totally rushed on this boot. They could have done an entire new version, but, instead, they opted for removing all the effects that gave the song its uniqueness.

On the other hand, I loved the way Ripper sang on Devil's Child. And Rob can, yes, hit the high notes on Painkiller, perfectly. Or could, as he did it when Priest performed at Rock In Rio 2.

El Indio, gettin' into some Hall and Oats! Heh heh. I had the opportunity absorb a good portion of the Hall & Oats discography on vinyl a few years ago when my sister unloaded all her vinyl... alas, I must admit that I passed on the offer and took her Van Halen & Talking Heads records instead.

Recent purchases... Sorry, no more Judas Priest for me guys...

- Flying Saucer Attack: Roy Montgomery ep

- Acumen Nation: The Fifth Column (Good return to their more electonic tinged industrial roots!)

- Neurosis: Enemy Of The Sun (Love the album, but still think they're a boring live act.)

- Nailbomb: Point Blank (had a copy, but bought the original... a good enough album, but in hindsight I can see Max already trying to get on the bandwagon 1994= Revolting Cocks, Lard, 1000 Homo DJs, Pailhead... I know he was really into this shit at the time and this record very much echos that fact.)

- The Fantomas Melvins Big Band: Millenium Monsterwork (A fuckin' hell this cd is great! Both bands, together on stage pounding out an excellent mix of songs and warping the shit out of each others music! Dale Crover & Dave Lombardo... a couple of my absolute favorite drummers and shredding!!!)

- Revolting Cocks: You Goddamned Son Of A Bitch! (My wife was thinning out a box of her old cds that she never listens to anymore and came accross this, which I promply inserted into my collection. All other rejected discs I either already had or didn't want... but she gave them all to me to trade in for more cds! Married life pleases me! )

Trying to save my money up for the month end Seattle record convention! Can't wait to dig through tons of boxes of records and cds alongside some of the NW's most stinky citizens... record collectors.

I just got the new 6-songs Marilyn Manson promo for the forthcoming album, The Golden Age of Grotesque. Holy fuck! It's nothing like the last few records. Kinda reminds me of the debut, but a little heavier (strong emphasis on actual riffs) and catchier too (it's got hooks). Now, i'm not a "mansonite" by any means, but it's the best new release i heard in a while. "Don't Pray For Me"'s chorus wont get out of my head... aaargh...

I picked up Nuclear Assault's Handle With Care used. It fucking rules. These guys are one of the most underrated thrash bands of the late '80's. Now I have to find Game Over on CD.

That fuckin ripped!!! "Where's Piggy?"

How's the singing Skulhead? Is it growling or does he mix it up and sing sometimes? I know the next release will be a total departure from the 'cookie monster' vocal style and is coming out early next year.

Voivod & Opeth tour?
HHHMMM...

I cant believe it!
Where did you get that at?
When is the Album due out?

I understand that Manson has a new DVD with
lots of recent Live footage on it, comeing out at the end of this month sometime.
I just got the 'Demistifying the Antichrist'
DVD with a lot of early Manson / Spooky Kids
stuff on it. Sound quality is bad.

shroeder: i'd say 70% death vokills and 30% clean vocals.. i really just played the whole thing once but i think that's about accurate. I never really liked Opeth but I quite like that new one (due out in november). They just rip off Voivod on the title track, tho. Ok so maybe their rip of my favorite band has got something to do with my liking it, too.

king kula: i have no idea when this is due out. Late november, maybe. It's got a KMFDM vibe goin'. Where did i get it? Off the net (i got sources. hehe). It's not an actual cd... just mp3s of it.

I picked up these 3 gems for $35.00 brand new!

Rush - Signals (remaster)

Rush - Hemispheres (remaster)

Judas Priest - Screaming For Vengeance (remaster)

I love 'em all! HMV has all the Rush remasters on sale right now. I'll probably go back on Monday and pick up Caress Of Steel and Grace Under Pressure.

Oooh..
I dunno. Make sure you have
"Permanent Waves" and "Moving Pictures" first.
I have always found "Grace" to be quite bland, and the best thing about "Caress" is probably the cover art.
'Signals' is amazing and 'Hemispheres' was their first great album. Oh yeah, "Farewell To Kings" ain't shabby, either.
All of this, of course, IMHO.

What is the name of the Rush album with the cover of the dalmatian standing next to a fire hydrant? That has to be one of the most awful pieces of music I've ever had the unfortunate experience of listening to. Unbelievably bad. I remember this from like eight years ago when I was in Germany and my friend made me sit through it. Man, that was bad.
