A very interesting catch today:

Stan Ridgway of Wall of Voodoo (and many solo projects) has
collaborated with his partner, Pietra Wexstun on an
ambience-oriented set for use as the background music for
twisted surrealist artist Mark Ryden's latest exhibit known as
Blood - Miniature Paintings of Sorrow and Fear

An example of Mark's art:

From the Blood Show:

Why am I showing you these?
Because the music fits the artwork perfectly.
Stan & Pietra have created a very unique album here, which I highly recommend.
The music is dark yet stunningly beautiful, with a sly sinister edge.
Also, the CD jacket is of impeccable quality,
and is very disturbing & unusual in and of itself.

(it was designed by Mr. Ryden)

The CD is limited to 7500 copies, so anyone interested should jump on this quick.

Speaking of limited editions, I got the limited edition (5,000 copies) of KREATOR - Live Kreation. The CDs come in a nice book-like digipack. Sweet.

Malefaction - Crush The Dream

These local boys are heavy as fuck. Hardcore elements in a Death Metal/Grindcore band. Excellent live. This is a 2001 release (their latest Where There Is Power There Is Always Resistance is fucking amazing - top ten of the year for sure) and is fast as hell. Great lyrics too. Make ya think. 23 tracks of blazing, angry music. I love it. 9/10

Ah! Another 'Pegger? 'Bout time more of the bastards started comin' around.

There's always been good heavy music here, problem is not many of the bands even get to record their stuff, let alone put it out for folks to buy.

Darkthrone Holy Darkthrone, the tribute to the band. Eight Norwegian Black Metal bands (Satyricon, Enslaved, Thorns, Emperor, DHG, Gehenna, Gorgoroth and Immortal) paying their tribute.

I bought this thing this afternoon:
ROB ZOMBIE - Past, Present & Future.
A cd/dvd compilation. The cd has 19 tracks including a few unreleased ones, and the DVD has 10 videos (sadly, only two White Zombie videos are featured... the rest is all Rob solo). Still, for 14$ (Canadian), it's a steal, so i couldnt resist.

Not quite from Winnipeg, eh. But maybe you know of Corpus Vile?
I still play my Kittens CD's. Propaghandi's classic shits, Malefaction of course, Swallowing Shit-
Fuck man, there's more decent bands in Winnipeg than there is in Toronto, that's for sure now.

Faust - IV
(Kraut as fuck)

Svinkels - Bons pour l'asile
Hilarious french hip-hop with street punk attitude. (Named after the 'Swinkels', kind of fermented piss in a bottle labeled 'beer'. Very cheap) The Tankard of french hip-hop...

I can't believe it but I actually went cd shopping yesterday. I haven't done this in probably a year. Pretty fun rooting around through the stacks of stuff. Here's what I got:

Stevie Ray Vaughn- IN STEP

Fairport Convention- Unhalfbricking
Couple of good tunes on here but its not half as good as their classic Liege and Lief that would come out later.

And my great buy of great buys:

Happy Family- s/t Japanese rock band who I believe I heard about on here somewhere. Does anybody know anything about these guys? I loved it. I actually "sat" and "listened" to the entire thing.

APOLLO RA - RA PARIAH

this is an album my friends did back in the 80's with Carl Cannedy producing and it was shopped but they never got the right deal from other distrubuters. it was then released on n=vinyl a few years ago and sold out very quickly and now UNSOUND has released it on cd. they used a lot of the photos I shot (but not credited for) and did a nice job of packaging (card slip case for the jewel box). for those of you that I hooked up with the MUSEUM OF FEAR cd, this was the original configuration of that band. the singer was more into the higher singinging (ala geoff tate, dickinson, halford) and more straight ahead metal with an edge. it was great to relive the old days by listening to this!!!

Mustardman, that was Andekton you sent, not Happy Family. Believe me, if you'd sent Family songs, I would remember. If you do happen to make it to the postoffice, please remember that I've moved and have a new address.
