I didn't go see Blackfield this time around because I had seen them a bunch of times already on previous tours and their new album is a piece of shit (yes, you heard me correctly). If I had spare time and money to burn I would have gone just to see Anathema perform and whenever Blackfield played a new song I would have gone to take a piss. Get the second Blackfield album, it's brilliant. Steven only wrote one tune on the new album and it shows. It should have been an Aviv Geffen solo album with special guest performances by Steven Wilson. At least if it was promoted that way, I would have known to avoid wasting my money on the cd and vinyl. -------------------- yawn

Sounds tasty on disc. Very jazzy, quiet and ambient-like. Like 'Islands 2011'. I love it.[/QB][/QUOTE]That's a very good comparison. With Collins on sax, it definitely has that earlier jazzy KC vibe. I probably won't listen to it very often, but glad I got the special edition with the surround mix. Recently received: The Unholy Sounds of the Demon Bells : Tribute to Mercyful Fate - I mainly picked this up because it has Mystic Force on it who are old friends from Baltimore. Some of the other bands are pretty good, some suck shit. -------------------- yawn

I sometimes think (ok i pretty much always think) I'm a bit insane (maybe stupid) for all the Pearl Jam official live bootlegs I've purchased over the years (which is almost every show they've released since starting this project in 2000)I usually wait til I get the complete box set of them all with a discount which save a lot of $$$, I have a shit load of real bootlegs, and live show downloads from all the years prior to 2000 also. The coolest thing about live Pearl Jam is that they mix it up every night and each show if unique. They play to and off of the audience and nothing is set in stone which makes them all enjoyable. This is unlike a lot of bands who play the same thing on the entire tour and maybe switch out a 2 or 3 songs from night to night.Anyway, I'm working my way through the 2010 shows and don't regret what I forked over for the box set. On another heavier & progressive note. I just preordered the new Arch/Matheos "Sympathetic Resonance" cd www.archmatheos.com Totally psyched about hearing this epic. The tune they have on the site sounds amazing... classic Fates Warning. -------------------- yawn

Hey Dave, I'd be doing the same thing you are if I didn't have kids. I think it's badass that you are such a comitted fan and collector and just wish you were my neighbor, haha. Hit a shop on my lunch break today and came back with a few nice used finds, all CDs. - Alice Cooper: Pretties For You - Razor: The Evil Invaders Alive (Live in Toronto 1985) - Swans: Soundtracks For The Blind - Venom: Official Bootleg -------------------- I am a robot... bleep blop bloop

YES - Fly From Here (special edition with dvd) The is an amazing album and the best thing they've done since Drama... it sounds like Drama part 2, which makes sense because they've finally recorded the title track which was a song they were doing on tour back in the Drama era. Anderson & Wakeman are gone and Geoff Downes is back with Trevor Horn producing and Benoit David (i think he used to be in a Yes tribute band) is singing (he's perfect)Foo Fighters - Back & Forth dvd Riverside - Memories in my Head Riverside - Voiced in my Head (expanded & reissued) -------------------- yawn

I love digging around in the local shops... better than ordering online x1000.Found in one place, all used. - Accused: Oh Martha! - Agitation Free: The Other Sides Of... - (Franco) Battiato: Pollution - Boris: Soundtrack From The Film 'Mabuta No Ura' - Gentle Giant: In A Glass House [35th Anniversary Edition] - Slayer: Reign In Blood [expanded ed.] My old CD copy if Reign In Blood seems to have developed an issue in which it won't play properly, depite be well taken care of and no visual damage. Let's hope this is not a sign of things to come for the compact disc format. -------------------- I am a robot... bleep blop bloop
