You must be in COLUMBIA HOUSE CLUB!!!
I am also but with 3500+ cds already I sometimes have a hard time finding anything I need. I have 2 free discs coming to me but still haven't been able to pick one!!!

Of course I remember Suicidal Tendencies and I still listen to them A LOT (because I am METAL). Mike Muir is sometimes hit or miss in the lyrics but he always GROOVES.

Great haul of great metal metal, pay the bill and buy more!!!

LOL! What a strange coincidence that you guys are talking about Suicidal! I almost bought Lights...Camera...Revolution at a used CD shop today, but instead I picked up Bruce Dickinson's Balls To Picasso as I've been very curious to hear some of his solo stuff. I hope I made the right decision. I'll spin it after my daughter wakes up from her nap.
I already have L...C...R on tape, but it's rather worn out. Maybe I'll go get it tomorrow (payday!)

LOL! Don't break the Oats!?! Nice finds there nuclear infusion!

Schroeder, how the hell does someone like you ever manage to find anything in those music clubs? I've considered it before but every time I get those catalogs I either already have or I don't want it and I know I don't have nearly as many cds as you!

I usually scour the local record stores (and believe me, there are a lot in Seattle). Actually, it's sort of a hobby too... the looking part that is. I sometimes enjoy digging through stacks of records and cds rather that ordering something online (even though the ladder is easier).

Recent local finds:
-Anacrusis: Manic Impressions (I like this! Going back to nab Screams & Whispers tonight!)
-Electric Wizard: Let Us Prey (already had a copy but decided to buy the original)
-Slayer: Decade Of Aggression (this seems to be gettin' hard to find)
-Acid King/Altamont: Split cd
-Today Is The Day: In The Eyes Of God (loving the Mastodon stuff! Had to check out the origins! Good, but I like Mastodon better)
-Flying Saucer Attack: Further
-Khanate: s/t (again, had a copy, bought the orig.)
-Pentagram: Sub-Basement

BTW - Looking at the liner notes of my recently purchased Orange Goblin cd, "The Big Black", I noticed a certain Vodhead's name cited for additional vocals! Any guesses... ahem... scuse me.

Aye, and I saw h himself onstage with the 'Goblin swinging his hair about like the billy. Fucking great gig that was, although I thought Monster Magnet (the main attraction) were so humourlessly Spinal Tap it wasn't even worth laughing about. Maybe I missed the point.

And h,
"And they can't handle thier booze!! "
..is not what I've been led to believe. However, I shall take your word for it as, from your posts, it seems as though you actually live in a pub!

It's fucking great! Love that guys voice!

Also, Testament - Souls Of Black. Again - great album. I'm in fucking Bay-Area heaven right now. All I need is some Heathen.

Hex..., Great load of cd you just got. Glad you scored the Nuc Assault!!! KONG is great!!!

Metal Chuch still kick ass and the last album MASTERPEACE was a masterpiece and anyone into Metal Church should get it.

X-D, Columbia House has a damn good selection online and I can usually find something...sometimes.

Bruce Dickinson' Balls To Picasso is a cool cd and I enjoy it a lot but would have to say that Accident Of Birth and Skunkworks are my first 2 choices folled by Balls To Picasso. You should go back and get ST: Lights Camera...definitley one of their best grooves!!! GO PSYCHO GO PSYCHO GO PSYCHO...

Yes ! one of the best bass player i've seen . One thing i wonder is how much Kevin Parent ( singer here in quebec ) payed Tony Levine to play on his last album . And by the way , i would like to know how much Tony was bored to play for Kevin ( bass is the only thing that sounds professional in this album ... )

But yeah DT/LTE just owns , IMO , it's the best live performing band today .

Thhis weekend i bought QOTSA: SFTD , very good album , i'm still dicovering it . And my second deal was the Cynic CD ( Paul Masdival & Sean Reinart who played for Chuck Shuldiner/Death ) . This is so hot ! You should listen to this if you haven't .

YEAH!

This time it's:

-Fields (old prog band, released only one album in the early 70s, only played it once, sounds ok)
-Motorpsycho - Serpentine EP (some nice new songs, but the new full-length will be better)

and:

-ARCTURUS - THE SHAM MIRRORS
This is the greatest record I've heard since a long time. I could go on about this for a long time, but it's better to check it out yourselves! Truly original Symphonic Prog/Black/Avant-Garde-Metal!

Fuck yeah! I absolutely love that CD! I found 2 of their older ones yesterday, but had to put them on hold untl NEXT payday. I can't recall the names, but it's the same CD, just different versions/ mixes/ interpretations of the songs. One is heavy and the other more ambient. Both are supposed to be awesome.

The reason I have to wait until next payday? My Razor re-issues came in! I'm going to pick them at HMV on Monday morning. Can't wait. Plus I'm hoping they have the new Nile and In Flames CDs. They've sold out of them EVERYWHERE!

I also got Amorphis - Tuonela used yesterday. Awesome CD. Great band.

I gave Balls To Picasso a listen. I think it needs a few more spins. Not what I expected at all. It's okay, but it didn't "grab my ears" so to speak. Actually, I think I'll put it on now.

Schroeder (and anyone else who cares!): I actually belong to Columbia House and BMG. I only joined after visiting the websites, and all you do is type in the name of a group and they show you what they have. Way fuckin' easier than looking at a catalog. BMG has a greater deal because you get 12 CDs for price of 1 (roughly $22), but S&H is about $3 for every free CD. Both sites have different "metal" selections, for example you can find Neurosis and Overkill on one site but not the other.
I actually belong to BMG twice right now, getting 5 free CDs to sign myself up again! (under a different name of course)

Columbia House has a bigger catalog to choose from, everytime BGM sends me something I can't find 1 cd I need, maybe I'll look at their online list though. If you can join these clubs it worth it, because they have incredible deals and you can really stock up on things you would buy at full price. Usually anytime I buy cd from them my averge price per disc is only about $7.00, and the box set prices are unbeatable!!!

Okay.. I might be wrong here, so excuse me if I've got my fact's muddled up, but I remember something going on a while ago that involved these mailorder label things and Pearl Jam (I think), who refused to have thier records sold through these channels as the record companies have it set up so that no royalty goes to the band, as these catalogues are considered a different 'territory' from those that the bands are signed to... or something. Can't remember how it works, or even if I've got the right end of the stick, but have any of you heard anything about this?

You're kinda right H but it's just that the royalties aren't as much as if they were sold thru regular stores or other online sites. However, I guess most bands see it as better something, than nothing. If you can get a new fan thru C.H. or BMG it's better than not getting a new fan at all. You can find most (if not all) of Pearl Jams cds on C.H. even the complete 2000 concert cds, and with the specials they have the prices are incredible. It seems Columbia House must give a better deal than the other clubs because they have a very good collection of music to choose from. Lots of Death Metal acts can be found on C.H.

DOOMED DAY - Project 1
HERETIC ANGELS - Delicious Sinistery

The first one is in the local language, I don't understand a shit of the lyrics!

Ahha. yeah, that's why i was asking this from you. I like them also, unfortunately they broke up. Their concerts were quite crazy. When Voivod was here in Budapest with Neurosis, Vágtázó Halottkémek played before them.
