In our city is an old fashion record store too. I buy a lot on the net, but sometimes I visit the store and have an old fashion search for the unknown and have a coffee in their bar after it.

Upstairs they have a big vinyl section.

That's old fashion satisfaction for tune nuts

TOOL - OPIATE 21st Anniversary reissue: version 2 404/1000

Queensryche - Frequency Unknown remixed. If you send an email with a scan of your receipt and request the remixed version of the new cd, they'll send it out free of charge... and damn fast also. Tate obviously knew what got released was sub standard but had to meet a deadline (probably to get his Ryche release out before the other Queensryche released their album). It still won't make up for the lame tunes, but it will be interesting to hear the difference... when I can subject myself to listening to it again.

RUSH - Clockwork Angels double vinyl - had to have it

Is it me or does Tate behave like a sheet of peace?

Tate has definitely been acting like an ass for many years. For some reason I'm still intrigued by what he releases. Probably from being a fan since the first EP and hoping he one day recaptures the magic of the early years... although I'm usually disappointed in what I've been hearing.

PIE & VINYL sounds like a brothel for music collectors. Great name, I wanna go!!!

Genesis - Duke (vinyl)
Genesis - Three Sides Live (vinyl)
Peter Gabriel - Plays Live (vinyl
Peter Gabriel - Peter Gabriel (vinyl)
Porcupine Tree - Recordings (reissued book edition)
WINGS - "Hands Across The Water - Wings Tour USA" Photo tour book (Hipgnosis/Paper Tiger release. picked this up for only $10 on eBay. I'm so psyched about the reissue of Wings Over America coming out which will include the full dvd of the concert that was made into a film but still never officially released in it's entirety on dvd, and the bootleg versions are all dark and grainy, and the one McCartney compilation dvd just features a few songs from this classic movie.)

Queensryche - Frequency Unknown (the remixed version that a emailed and requested. WAY better than the version being sold. I actually like this album now.

CLUTCH - Pitchforks & Lost Needles (black vinyl) I was hoping this was going to be the 1/2 red 1/2 black vinyl, but it wasn't so I guess I'll still have to hunt that one down

Hey Lee, what is your opinion of this release? I've never really checked out the Mahavishnu Orchestra stuff after the main band split (Jan Hammer, Billy Cobham, etc)... am I missing out here? Big fan of those initial releases, for sure.

Some randmom CD finds today...

- Buffalo: Average Rock 'N' Roller [2006 reissue, Aztec Records]
- Jarboe: Anhedoniac
- Kadaver: s/t debut
- Tempest: s/t debut [2011 remaster]

This Tempest album is apparently where Allan Holdsworth made his first mark, but totally haven't heard it yet. Their 2nd album "Living In Fear" is fantastic, so hoping this lives up to the expectation. A little weary of this Buffalo disc, haha. Dead Forever is a total classic, but this one is definitly past their prime. Eh, worth a try.

Well, that's a pretty convincing review. Looks like I'll be giving this a spin sometime soon! Thanks!

EDIT: For the record, that first Tempest album sounds great! Just a couple tunes in, but already feeling the connection. Dig it!

I'd be very interested in hearing some of Holdsworth's earlier stuff...I know he's super talented but his later material never did it for me...especially that crap with the synthax....

I listened to Holdsworth's Metal Fatigue today. It's got some incredible playing and Paul Williams from Tempest sings on it also.
