although ive gotten more CDs than i can count since my last post - i'll just mention the ones that i bought 2 days ago.

got the martyr warp zone reissue which is very nice. dan never fails of amaze me.

i also got secrets of the moon - carved stigmata wounds... really been digging these guys lately and cant wait for the new album since tom g. has alot to do with it.

a few days prior to this very minimal purchase i caved and picked up warriors of ice. the douchebag at the label basically told me he was to lazy to send me a promo, and anything else voivod related so i could make a giant display and stock it to the brim with goodies! looks like he's not to interested in helping out small shops anymore! anyways, the sound is really massive and aside from a couple vocal things here and there i love the album. the guys sound so energetic!

Twisted Sister 'Under The Blade' re-issue with DVD from Reading Festival 1982. Mostly irritating is how much the festival tickets were going for on the inner sleeve reproduction - £15! How's that for inflation?!

For some unknown reason I got nostalgic about a week ago and went on a early April Wine buying spree... they started coming in along with some other goodies.
April Wine - The April Wine Collection (4 cd box set of 'The Singles' - 'The Rock Songs' 'Vintage Wine' 'Live') They have their fair share of cheesey songs, but they also have a lot of good stuff

April Wine - Stand Back

Voivod - Warriors of Ice (i agree with all the comments others have made about this)

Crack The Sky - All Access (dvd with 2 concerts from 200

I notice a lot of people buying Sabbath stuff. A while back I bought 2 Japanese mini-LP box sets on eBay: One was geared towards Ozzy and the Other Dio. Even though my girlfriend has the Sabbath Black Box, I wanted to see how the Japanese remasters sounded. Well, I am not disappointed in the least...Plus these sets can only go up in price because they are VERY limited.

It's odd that the Dio one contains 'Never Say Die', and 'Technical Ecstacy' is nowhere to be found so I had to buy it separately. The boxes are big enough that it fit haha. Black Sabbath will always be in my top 5 favorite bands of all time.

Beautiful Sabbath Box Set!!!! That is weird that Tech Ecstasy wasn't included. I have 2 different Porcupine Tree Japanese Box Sets that covered their entire catalog up to Fear of a Blank Planet. I'd consider hunting down those Sabbath Boxes but considering I already have the 70-78 set, the Black Box 'box set, and Under Wheels of Confusion 4 cd compilation, a few of the deluxe releases... I should really try and show some restraint for a change. But damn if it ain't tempting.

Then those Pink Floyd Immersion sets are going to be released, which I really need to try and avoid considering all the box sets I already own on Floyd... fucking marketing companies knowing how to steal my hard earned money!!!

Hahah....You're such an easy sell Dave.

Nuc, that Sabbath set is beautiful. I've fallen in love with the Vol. 4 album which I recently picked up. Had never heard it before. Same goes for 'Holy Diver' and 'Painkiller'.....never understood before why these were considered classics...but having spent the last week experiencing these brilliant works....holy mackerel! Its so unusual when you have an album like that where every song rocks so fucking hard.

Wow, that does look like some cool stuff. I don't buy box sets all that often, mostly because of the all out expense, but these mini-LPs are the coolest format to do so... awesome packaging and typically nice 24-bit mastering work done in Japan.

I've picked up Japan mini-LP releases from Led Zeppelin, Yes, Flower Travellin' Band, Area, Ibis, a few others and true enough, they are boner worthy releases. If I could afford it, I'd primarily buy CDs like this all the time. Nice purchase John!

On another note, I received a cool collection of tunes from 1970s purveyors of heavy rock, Granicus! This collection, called "Thieves, Liars, and Traitors" puts together demos, rehearsals, and rare tracks from 1973-1974. All newly discovered/recovered materials remastered and released by the band themselves. Rough recordings for sure, but well worth the low price and good to actually buy directly from the band.

Fuck, one more round this month. Laying low for a bit. All used CDs again.

- Christian Death: Only Theatre Of Pain
- The Doors: Morrison Hotel [expanded edition]
- Judas Priest: Painkiller [remaster]
- Melvins: 26 Songs
- Watchtower: Demonstrations In Chaos

Was especially stoked to find this Christian Death album as well as this somewhat hard to find Watchtower release.

Thanks guys, now I feel my purchases are more justified haha. I agree with X-D the mini-LP format is really neat, and those Japanese really know about technology and this sorta-new plastic material helps the data read better in your player or some shit haha. Either way, I like collecting rare stuff, or things that will go OOP and only increase in value. Let's just say I didn't spend less than half a grand for all that So Schroeder, I think you should focus on something else since you have so many Sab sets already

And Mez, WOW can't believe you haven't heard 'Vol. 4', I am assuming you mean in it's entirety, cuz if you haven't heard the song "Snowblind" EVER in your life there is something seriously wrong! Yeah this album kicks major ass.

Thanks for the warning on the price of the Sabbath set. Yeah, I'll restrain from buying those since I've been picking up a bunch of stuff I actually DON'T already have in some form or another.
MEZ... how the hell can you call yourself METAL without previously owning Painkiller, Volume 4, or Holy Diver? We'll forgive you since the ladies think you're cute... and you've turned me on to some choice bands over the years.

Well, the girls had to go back to the mall again the other day so I grabbed a couple more cds at FYE's used sale just to kill some time:
James Labrie - Static Impulse
Chickenfoot - Chickenfoot (special edition with dvd and different cover) I also realized my previous copy of Chickenfoot has a pressure sensitive coating which disappears when you hold it or where your fingers touch it... very cool

Today's mail:
Saxon - Call to Arms (very excited about hearing this... LOVE Saxon)
April Wine - The Whole World's Going Crazy (so have I been with buying old April Wine cds)
Wardog - A Sound Beating

obviously there is no cure for my addiction

It's 2 separate box sets Dave, the Ozzy one was almost 300 and the Dio one was 200. Well worth it I might say!

I've bought over a 500 CD's in the past 5 years but haven't been able to post. Consider me "One of YOU!"

Those Black Sabbath boxes are really neat and a great acquisition.

Lately:

VOIVOD - Warriors of Ice

Only Death is Real, the amazing Hellhammer book. I think it's great that Tom did such a wonderful work with this one, it once again reminded me of how much a fan of both HH and CF (and Triptykon) I am.

War & Pain reissue set -- to qualify for free shipping on two books from amazon UK. The books weren't what I was after, so I have to pay the shipping to return them *lol*

Hindsight being 20/20 I would have preferred to buy the Voivod CDs from an indie record shop or the band but oh well!

Still prefer the sound of my extremely thrashed out original vinyl copy but they did a nice job w/ the CDs.

Absolutely man! Was listening to it recently and was reminded at how good this record really is. Pretty dark tunes, for certain, haha.

Found these on my way home from work today.

- Angels Of Light: New Mother
- Deathrow: Raging Steel [2008 reissue]
- The Doors: Waiting For The Sun [expanded edition]

For $7, the Deathrow was the find of the month.
