STEVE BALL - BOX SET: 3 cds of great guitar playing...very cool and enjoyable. He's a Guitar Craft student of Fripps and has released quite a few albums as solos, and with groups.

I had to report for jury duty this morning but luckily after 1 1/2 hours we were all let go, so, what better way to kill some time then going to Record & Tape Traders!!!!

I picked up:
YES - Tormato (remastered & expanded)
YES - Drama (remastered & expanded) this has always been one of my fav YES albums and I was hoping for more unreased tracks with Trevor Horn singing, and although they added some shit songs they did with Anderson at the time (before his majesty left the band) there are some demos that were cut with horn and some great instrumental also
YES - 90125 (remastered & expanded)
CRACK THE SKY - White Music (remastered)
CRACK THE SKY - CRACK THE SKY (remastered)

I had to drive back to the store because I purchased Crack The Sky "Ghost" which I already had (for some reason I thought this was the new cd... doh), so I picked up a few more things:
CRACK THE SKY - Dogs From Japan (the real new cd)
NEVERMORE - Enemies of Reality
Devin Townshend - Terria
DIO - Evil Or Divine DVD (couldn't pass this up for only $8.99

I needed some METAL after all that prog and prog/pop stuff I bought

Skul said marvels about "Rush In Rio", the DVD, but it costs more than my money can afford ( ), so I went for AC/DC's "Stiff Upper Lip Live". It rocks like hell, great stuff.

I bought the Opeth - Lamentations DVD yesterday and it rules! 2 sets, 1 all mellow and one all crazy. Great documentary on the making of the Damnation and Deliverance albums too. Just wish they would have played something off Still Life or Morningrise instead of only the last 3 albums. 8.5 /10

The Rush in Rio DVD is really good.
My only complaint is that the crowd noise is up too high.
Plus, the camera never seems to stay on one shot for very long.

But..Its well worth the money.

Not a music cd but I just received the vhs tape of WHEN THE WIND BLOWS an animated movie about an old English couple that are on the outskirts of a nuclear bomb and what they go thru. Very moving and disturbing. Great soundtrack by Roger Waters. I watched this years ago and have been trying to hunt it down for a few weeks. It's not on dvd so I bid on an Ebay auction.

Can't arrord a single c.d.! It's cold, raining and snowing, my dog's tail fell off and I can't find my Prozac! I need a hug...

theres only so many double kick drum'd songs with singers shouting the F word you can take before it becomes extremely dull.

Speaking of anus.com, I'm waiting for my copy of Burzum's "Filosofem" to arrive via-mail. A true shot in the dark, believe it or not I'm totally new on Burzum, apart from Varg's "political" beliefs. Good part is, in case I don't like it, I already have someone to sell it to.

Slaytanic, I know you like Slayer.
OK, I'm intearfering here, but I want you to know this kind of "music" (and lyrics) are directly linked to "groups" that do NOT like people like Tom Arya in Slayer.
This is not the right forum to discuss this issue. I just want you to know what is "behind" this "genre".

With respect for the metal.

I finally picked up
"de-loused in the comatorium"
by The Mars Volta

I don't remember being this excited about a band in a while. This is a great disc and I'm not even finished with my first spin of it! It's like a punk version of Led Zeppelin's Presence. I don't know what made me come up with that comparison, but in any case, I think this band has something.

PETE TOWNSHEND - La Jolla Playhouse June 23 2001

I ordered a bunch of cds from his web site and they ship each one separately... weird, but still happy as hell to get these, since they have been sold out for a long time and I guess they finally got around to pressing more.

MMM, great description of The Mars Volta. I have to be in the right mode them. Sometimes I think they're great and other times they bore the crap out of me.
