I think Deadwing is probably the bands heaviest and most diverse album to date. Many different flavors from atomospheric ambient to speeding down the highway to great riffs. I've heard from a few people that Deadwing took a few listens before it's greatest sank in... give it a few more spins. There are some beautiful mellow tracks (Glass Arm Shattering & Lazarus & Mellotron Scratch), just like every PT has had, but then you have straight forward heavy tunes (Shallow & Halo) progressive long heavy/mellow (Arriving Somewhere...) and the remaining tracks are just shear brilliant (Start of Something Beautiful, Open Car & Deadwing).Anyway, give it a few more spins. I don't see it being much different than the new album, and I have really enjoyed how PT has evolved over the the years, taking in new influences, trying different ideas, mixing it up, but still sounding like PT. -------------------- yawn

Schroeder buying a new CD. Bah. Schroeder buying a new Porcupine Tree CD. Two times bah. Can we have something new for once? BTW, I got these two marvels: NAPALM DEATH - ORDER OF THE LEECH Almost closing the book on ND, still missing the new one. FLOTSAM AND JETSAM - DOOMSDAY FOR THE DECEIVER (20th Anniversary Edition) -------------------- "Forty-five moments of perfection translated through a cautionary escape into the perils of the mundane, the inherent entropy in ultimate order, and the potential threats of eternal, unchecked apathy in civilization; all cloaked in musical expression so thoughtful, creative and forward thinking that almost a quarter-century later, few can even comprehend it, much less match it." Tori Amos - American Doll Posse (great)Machine Head - Blackening Aerosmith - Toys In The Attic (sacd surround sound disc only $5.00) Has anyone heard the new ONSLAUGHT? I haven't heard from them in a long time and noticed they had a new cd out "Killing Peace". The samples I've heard sound pretty good, but samples can sometimes be misleading for better or worse. -------------------- yawn

Dude, c'mon....how could we not be interested in the ALANIS MORISSETTE COLLECTION....what a great singer! That first album meant so much to me. How she came up with such clever lyrics...i'll never forget that particular refrain...."like rain on your wedding day"...theres so much meaning in that one phrase...to this day it still blows me away. And I have yet to figure out what she meant. Talk about genius!
