Great album. If I'm not mistaken, Slayer covered "Dissident Aggressor" on South of Heaven? That alone speaks volumes.

Death - Scream Bloody Gore
At the Gates - Slaughter of the Soul
Mithras - Worlds Beyond the Veil

Words cannot effectively describe the brilliance of that Mithras album. It's insane in it's complexity, brutality... wonderful stuff. And they're British! Go buy it!

Thanks for all the recommendations, you guys! Perhaps I'll add "Judas Priest" to my Christmas list, eh? Something even my perpetually cash-strapped family can afford...one cd each!

New additions to the shrines of horror:

Vinyl:
Queensr˙che - s/t 12"
Jade Warrior - Waves (weird instrumental 70s prog)
The Beatles - Let It Be...Naked (with nice booklet and bonus 7")

CD:
Neurosis & Jarboe (Neurosis meets with the voice of the Swans, quite disturbing material, perfect to destroy parties)

--------------------

"Appearing like Ra"

Hey Hex, the only one on your list that I have really heard is Though Industry, and I was VERY impressed by them. Where can I find their stuff online? anyone? Let me know what the rest of those bands sound like too.

After 10+ tears of having moved from the Baltimore area and having missed being able to shop in RECORD AND TAPE TRADER stores...they just opened one down at the beach in REHOBOTH Delaware and I'm like a pig in shit!!!!

Picked up:
Joe Satriani: The Satch Tapes DVD

Judas Priest: Electric Eye DVD (worth it just for the footage from 'the old grey whistle test')

Foo Fighters: Everywhere But Home DVD

Queensryche: Best Of CD (finally found a used copy but then after listening to it the last track skips )

A Perfect Circle: Weak & Powerless CD Single

no CDs, but 2 LPs:
Deathrow - Deception Ignored
(been meaning to find that one ever since 1988)
&
Erosion - Thoughts
(been meaning to find that one ever since early 1990)
...for less than $15 so I guess this is pretty cool.

What do you think of it? I rediscovered that album recently and, even tho there's a lot of ballads on that one ( ), I kinda like it. Good guitar sound, not that heavy, but not bad. And I LOVE "It's Alright", Bill Ward's song. It's sounds like a Beatles song or something.

Over the last week or 2 a few nice goodies have come my way...

Suicidal Tendencies - How Will I liaugh Tomorrow... One of my fave albums. I can put the vinyl to rest now. I just love playing geetar along to this one.

Anthrax - Live The Island Years Not bad, got it cheap so I won't complain. Too short though, with too many cover tunes.

Carcass - Heartwork I like it but I know this is their most commercial album. The older stuff is where it's at I'm told.

Just returned from my now weekly trip to RECORD & TAPE TRADERS with the following cds:

Joe Satriani - the electric joe satriani an anthology (2 cds remastered with a couple rare cuts!!!)

The Mars Volta - Live (42 minute ep cd $5)

Mark Lanegan Band - Here Comes That Weird Chill

Dogboy - Guerrilla Jazz (some guys from the Baltimore band Crack The Sky doing some cool instrumental jazzy rock)

Rush - In Rio (finally bought this triple cd)

also a couple cdrs I received from a trade:
Have Mercy - 'Pleading For Mercy' & 'Mass Destrucion' demos (anone who happens to have or remeber when Combat did their BOOTCAMP series which were ep's of bands they were thinking about signing, might have seen the Mass Destruction release. I see Combat has a cd with 3 or 4 bands records of their Bootcamp recordings and it includes the Have Mercy tracks. I might put these up for download in the future)

SLAYER - War At The Warfield

It's xmas time, got this goodie as a gift from two friends of mine. I luv it, even the "fans rule" has some interesting parts, i.e., the band interviews. The fan "declarations", I think, are grotesque, as everyone here stated.

But, anyway, how cool is to get a Slayer DVD for christmas???

--------------------

"Forty-five moments of perfection translated through a cautionary escape into the perils of the mundane, the inherent entropy in ultimate order, and the potential threats of eternal, unchecked apathy in civilization; all cloaked in musical expression so thoughtful, creative and forward thinking that almost a quarter-century later, few can even comprehend it, much less match it." IT'S WAY FUCKIN' COOL TO GET A SLAYER DVD FOR XMAS!!!!

It's actually fuckin' cool to get a Slayer dvd any day of the year, but it means a little bit more when it's during the Yule Tide... something so evil on such a religious holiday... doesn't get better than that

Santa was especially good to me this year. I guess I was being a good boy when he was watching.

Reservoir Dogs DVD (Special "Mr Orange" Edition)
Gladiator DVD
Iron Maiden - Rock In Rio (CD not DVD )

also a bunch of cash that I just spent on...

Judas Priest - Electric Eye DVD
Venom - At War With Satan (re issue with bonus tracks)

...then at my friends used DVD/CD shop I got these really cheap at his big Boxing Day Sale:

Iron Maiden - Classic Albums Number Of The Beast DVD
Suicidal Tendencies - Art Of Rebellion
Corrosion Of Conformity - Deliverance
Anthrax - Stomp 442

I'm gonna go watch the Priest DVD now. Metal bliss awaits.

Bathory - Blood on Ice and
King Crimson - In the Court of the Crimson King

King Crimson - Red (I already had In the Court, I wasn't returning it out of any hatred of KC) and Iron Maiden - Rock in Rio

ummm.....I got nothin' today :-(

Christmas fun-titude:

Death - Symbolic
Death - Sound of Perseverance
Cryptopsy - Blasphemy Made Flesh
Morbid Angel - Domination
Celtic Frost - To Mega Therion

That's all the Death albums now, so no longer have to listen to the mp3s from Vroom's FTP...

Domination was a bit disappointing, I only really liked 'Dominate'. Need to listen to it a bit more.
