Crack the Skye is what got me into Mastodon and I went crazy buying everything that was released for that album and also traced their catalog back to the beginning. The Hunter didn't really do it for me. Not bad, but not as cool as CtS. Once More Round The Sun is more like CtS and I love it. Listened to the cd at least once a day for the first week and also deemed it a vinyl worthy purchase.I was not thrilled at all with the new COC either. It just sounds monotonous, and they don't have any groove happening. That's what I miss about Pepper not being in the band. Definitely not vinyl worthy, which saves me a few $$$. LOL I've had so much vinyl coming in the last few weeks I didn't even bother listing it on this thread. While reading a Robert Plant biography, I got back into my Led Zep kick and started picking up the deluxe remastered and extended cds and vinyls of the first 3 albums and also got Celebration Day - Mothership - The Song Remains The Same (with 6 extra songs) all on vinyl. Just to name a few things. -------------------- yawn

Was at a Half-Price Books the other day and found these for cheap.Vinyl... - Baker Gurvitz Army: Elysian Encounter - The Hunt: Back On The Hunt - Kansas: The Point Of Know Return - Kiss: Rock And Roll Over - Kiss: Lick It Up - ZZ Top: Afterburner CD... - AC/DC: Alternating Current - Live At The Veteran's Memorial Auditorium, Columbus, OH 9.10.1978 [bootleg] - Cynic: Traced In Air [deluxe edition] - Iron Maiden: Powerslave [2-CD edition, again] Already had the Powerslave 2-CD, but it was $6, so couldn't pass it by. And now that I have Kiss' Lick It Up on vinyl, my life is somehow complete. -------------------- I am a robot... bleep blop bloop

The new Mastodon lp is damn great to my ears. I'm listening to it on an almost daily basis. That hasn't happened to me with any new stuff in recent years. Not too much new cd's/lp's except for the new Wovenhand cd, which isn't bad. I saw that Ginger Baker documentary once and I was impressed, talking 'bout REAL madmen! Also this guy is talented as fuck. -------------------- "Appearing like Ra"

Hey Lee, I did watch that. I'm with you on the animation, but it didn't take away too much for me. My biggest beef was that they glossed over a few periods I was interested in, like the Baker Gurvitz Army and Ginger's time with Hawkwind which wasn't even mentioned. From Dave Brock's liner notes in the Levitation box set, it sounds like Baker was quite disruptive during his tenure with those guys, haha. Picked up a few CDs this week... - Iron Maiden: Killers [1995 2-disc US edition, FINALLY!] - Magma: Zühn Ẁöhl Ünsaï - Live 1974 - Ozzy Osbourne: The Ultimate Sin [1995 22-bit remaster] About to sit back and take in some classic Maiden... -------------------- I am a robot... bleep blop bloop

As amazing as Adrian Belew is as a guitarist, his solo work is an acquired taste. Not a big fan of it myself, though I totally dig the guy as a player and love his work with KC.Working in the city this week (and over the weekend) and managed to nab these CDs... - Clutch: Earth Rocker [deluxe edition 2CD/1DVD] - Cryptic Slaughter: Money Talks [Relapse expanded reissue] - Iron Maiden: Running Free - Run To The Hills [First 10 Years CD] - Midday Veil: Eyes All Around - T2: 1971-1972 - Yes: Drama [expanded remaster] Midday Veil is a local Seattle band I've been digging on lately. Kind of trippy psych, but super smooth. Worth checking out. http://middayveil.com/ -------------------- I am a robot... bleep blop bloop

WARNING WARNING WARNING!!! DO NOT BUY THE NEW YES ALBUM 'HEAVEN & EARTH' hands down it is the most boring album they have EVER released. I would rather listen to grass grow! The only good thing about it is Roger Dean did the art work (although not his best, but still) Get Trevor Horn back to write, produce, and hell, let him sing also. This Jon Anderson clone the have writes and sings in a way that could put me into a coma, and be happy I don't have to hear him anymore.OVERKILL - White Devil Armory deluxe cd with 2 extra songs)- FUCKIN' AWESOME (lots of different vinyl releases are on the way along with the limited edition cd deluxe box set) Judas Priest - Killing Machine (180 gram vinyl) -------------------- yawn

I really enjoy FLY FROM HERE (even picked it up on limited edition vinyl box set)and listen to it a lot. I am a huge fan of the DRAMA album and FFH is the perfect continuation of that. I wish I would have listened to sample before forking over my $$$ for this new piece of shit, because I wouldn't have ordered it at all. live and learn.... again -------------------- yawn

And I liked 'Drama' very much. But it just didn't convince me like a Yes album should. Too much Buggles/Asia...At least 'Keys To Ascension' had 'Mind Drive'. Apart from that most Yes stuff since '90125' bored me. And this new crap is another low point.
Fly From Here is the best thing they have done since 90125. I've been listening to YES and collecting them for so long it's just an impulse purchase without thinking about it.... STUPID!!! They have released too many albums that just collect dust on my shelf, and every now and then I will pull them out and listen to them again and quickly realize why I had to blow the dust off of them. YES sure ain't no KING CRIMSON... that's for damn sure! At least Fripp knows when to do ProjeKCts and when to put the KC name on something (don't prove me wrong Robert with this new release LOL) -------------------- yawn
