I can totally relate to that(sorry, always lurking on this thread and never posting).

I'm currently trying to gather the Tom Waits back catalogue on vinyl in the same way. It's taking up all my damn funds!

One in the mail and the rest of these at a local shop on my lunch break.

- Bulldozer: The Final Seperation
- Cirith Ungol: Frost And Fire
- Monument: The First Monument
- Pentagram: First Daze Here Too
- Raw Power: Burning The Factory [1983 BCT Demo + Live '83]

The Cirith Ungol was random the find of the day - Hell YES, as I love this album a lot! The Raw Power came from eBay and is a result of a sudden re-connecting to the early works of this awesome band... Funny to go from heavy Blue Öyster Cult to Raw Power obsession in the same week, but the brain is a mysterious thing.

In the mail...

RAW POWER: The Reagan Years

2xCD/1DVD set that includes You Are The Victim, Screams From The Gutter, After Your Brain, Wop Hour, Mine To Kill, and 2 live shows on the DVD (bootleg quality). Was looking for a copy of You Are The Victim and this seemed like a pretty good deal for $12 on eBay.

I cleaned it up and listened to side one. I may have to try the "wood glue technique" to make it sound a lot better and get it deep down clean. It's not bad considering how old it is and I'm sure the original owner (the seller) played it a lot... I know I will.

The wood glue technique is great. It will make a difference.

Schro, you're the last guy I'd imagine listening to Jean Luc Ponty...was he in King Crimson or something. Seems kind of random...

I've had Cosmic Messenger for a long time and I've always enjoyed people like Eddie Jobson, and Robby Steinhardt, and David Ragsdale and the sound of the violin in a rock genre. I picked up the Ponty collection for around $15 including shipping. I enjoy some diversity in my music. I'm not always in the mood for this style (same with ambient, drone, fusion, etc) but it's nice to own some different genres of music when you're in the mood for something different.
I picked up a couple Mumford & Sons cd a few weeks ago and realized fast banjo playing can make you speed in your car without knowing it.

I haven't listened to that one yet but I was totally turned off by it when I heard the single "Cold". It's definitely got to be better than Dedicated to Chaos. I'm sure Alanis's live in Montreux is way heavier than Geoff's Queensyche.

Is that good or bad Lee? How's the Camel treating you?

Had to shoot down to San Francisco for a site survey and made a quick stop at Amoeba Records. The place is beyond awesome, but I only had a short time before I had to catch my flight out and suffered from sensory overload.

This is just the metal CD section (and a tiny fragment of the whole store).

I'm bummed that I wasn't able to spend more time digging around, but did nab these 4 CDs. Thought of a dozen things I forgot to check for on the way to the airport. The Magma and Tempest discs were pretty high on my list.

- Hate Forest: The Most Ancient Ones
- Steve Hillage: Rainbow Dome Musick
- Magma: BBC 1974 Londres
- Tempest: Living In Fear

There's another Seattle Record Show this Sunday, so hoping to pick up some sweet vinyl (and CDs) then as well.

Wow....places like this still exist???? I'd be a walking hard-on.....

No, that's my favorite Camel album....plus it had four live tracks from shows at the Hammersmith....so a steal for the six bucks I paid for it! You're the one who turned me on to those guys way back when..............(Although I have to admit hating their Snowgoose suite!)

Haha, yeah, there are still some amazing music stores on the west coast, but Amoeba Music is the best I've seen. If you are ever in San Francisco or Hollywood, I highly recommend a visit. Be sure to give yourself a couple of hours and lots of money to burn.

$6 is a great deal for a Camel CD! I still need to get Moonmadness on CD... just have the LP.

Damn, that picture of Ameba made me miss digging through endless bins of music back in the day. I've got nothing like this anywhere close to me. There's an FYE in the mall, but they're overpriced, and unless I get lucky and find something cool used I don't make any special trips just to go there. Fells Point in Baltimore has a place called The Soundgarden which is a great place to look for obscure stuff and lose track of time. Record & Tape Traders in Towson area isn't too bad either, but I have so much stuff it's hard to find much I need at these places when I do get there.

Today's mail
Steven Wilson - Record Store Day 12" picture disc or Luminol (demo) / The Watchmaker (demo) I was lucky enough to find a copy of this online at Vintage Vinyl for around $31 with shipping, which is a steal considering what people are asking for and paying on Ebay.

The Geoff Tate Queensryche is pretty lame upon first listen. The 4 cover versions of older Queensryche songs just re enforces that the fact he just doesn't write great songs like he used to. I'd curious to hear the "Other Queensryche" album when it comes out in a couple of months. I liked the track I heard from it.

The new Ghost is a continuation of the first album. Interesting. If you like the debut album you'll like this one. It didn't blow me away or give me the desire to buy the cool vinyl release with all the great art work in the booklet. The cd has no booklet, lyrics or cool extra art.

The new Skid Row was pretty cool. Not as heavy as the stuff they did after Seb left years ago but not cheesey like the first album. Definitely worth a few more spins.

Alanis live cd kicks ass

I'm with you on the new Ghost. It's "ok" but mostly underwhelming if not outright dull at points. Still taking it in though, so trying to keep an open mind. The copy I picked up came in a jewel case with all the art and one band picture (plus 2 bonus tracks)... For a deluxe edition, it's really just a normal CD.

Went to a record show today and found these.

Vinyl...
- Area: Anto/Logicamente
- Blue Öyster Cult: On Your Feet Or On Your Knees
- Chicken Shack: Imagination Lady
- Dr. Know: This Island Earth
- Ethos: Ethos (ardour)
- Steve Hillage: L

CD...
- Dust: Hard Attack/Dust (reissue w/both albums together)
- Manilla Road: Spiral Castle [another fine Shadow Kingdom Records resuuse! These are great!]

First time I've ever seen anything at all from Area on vinyl! What a find!

I listened to the new Ghost BC again today at a louder volume which helped but still left me with the same feeling. Some of the lyrics are comical and corny. When the first album came out someone described them to me as a cross between King Diamond meet Blue Oyster Cult which I both love and a damn good description of Ghost's sound (but add in Gregorian Chanting Monks to complete the description).

I miss going to record shows.
Nice haul XD.
