I didn't buy this but got it on trade from my good friend X-D. Enslaved's Monumension. I can't get over how awesome that band is. The singer has got a great voice. And he kind of changes it up(unless that's someone else)on different songs. That first tune is unreal. Any other Enslaved fans here?

Wasn't the title tune off the Ultra-Violence an instrumental, Corpse? Seems like I remember that being particularly good. That was one of many albums I sold when I got out of my metal phase. Thankfully I've returned.
I just can't headbang anymore. I went into a spastic fit yesterday playing Cutthroat off of Roots and was in massive pain for the next two days.

Here's a few I bought recently.
Flotsam: No Place For Disgrace
Candlemass: Nightfall/Ancient Dreams/Tales Of Creation reissues
Mastodon: Remission
High On Fire: Surrounded By Thieves
Mammoth Volume: The Early Years
Pentagram: First Daze Here
Wolf: s/t

How much are you folks paying for old metal at your local stores?

Fuck, you guys are gonna laugh at me..ah, who cares.

I've been slowly collecting all the Judas Priest remasters (I already have the whole catalogue - mostly on vinyl, but now I'll have 'em all on CD) and today at lunch I bought...Turbo.

(Waits for laughter to die down and vegetables to stop hitting face)

I know, it kinda sucks, but it's become a bit of a guilty pleasure over the last couple of years.
Last payday I bought (braces himself for another onslaught of merciless mockery and vegetable pelting)...Ram It Down. Yeah, it's a BIG piece of shit, but I want to collect 'em all. Sounds like a Digi-mon commercial...

Anyway, to save face with all of you, I also picked up Sin After Sin last week. What a killer album. Right there, on that CD is the birth of modern speed, power and melodic thrash Metal. Unquestionably a classic.

Just so you all don't think I've gone completely soft, next week I'm going to pick up an Emperor CD. I'm not sure if I should get IX Equilibrium or Anthems To The Welkin At Dusk.

Oh, and the new Halford album too.

Neither, man! Get the debut "In The Nightside Eclipse" first, then maybe Anthems.

I havent bought an actual cd in a few weeks.. I should head down to the used shop sometime. However, here's some good shit that i found lately:

Anvil - Plugged in Permanent
I had no idea it was as good as this is. Goddamn. Anvil does thrash. killer drums.

Scorpions - World Wide Live (LP)
Bought this at a friend's yard sale for 50 cents. hehe. I think his father in law owned this. It looks like it never played. I hadnt heard this since i was like 12. Possibly the best live album of the 80's. "Coast to Coast" rules.

Cancer - Death Shall Rise
A friend of mine gave me this cd not too long ago. "I hate it!". Blah! I used to have that on tape in 92. Typical Scott Burns sound (cardboard drums), James Murphy on guitar. Good ol' Death Metal. Wall to Wall riffs.

That's pretty much it.

Thanks for not laughing! Painkiller is one of their best. It's the album the should have released after Defenders Of The Faith. I can't wait to get the remaster 'cause I hear the bonus track Living Bad Dreams is excellent.

I'm expecting FIREBALL (Deluxe edition)
by Deep Purple & CRIMSON by
Sentenced. I got 'em from the new
Century Media catalog. If any of you
are on their mailing list, you know how
cool this edition is. It's got over 200
color pages of cool shit.

Schroeder, did that MASQUE remastered
also come from Columbia House?
You ain't lyin' about their deals. They
practically give away stuff with those
bonus points & all.

I've also got a stack of cool shit
Mezcalhead has sent (LAZER GUIDED
MELODIES by Spiritualized & RED by
King Crimson in heavy rotation).

Layla's Dad,
Columbia House does not carry Masque, a friend got it at Walmart for me. I had the original cd release from many years ago and the remeastered are a great improvement on sound, not to mention the bonus tracks. It's funny because the remaster of Masque claims it's the first time it's been released in the USA on cd...that's BS because I have the original domestic release!!!

Jethro, go to where all the topics are listed and you'll see a section Warcorpse set up for 'trades'. So far it's just X-D and myself that have lists to link to. I'm hoping more people start posting theirs.
Anyway, Deep Purple FIREBALL remaster is GREAT. I love anything with Gillan (okay almost anything) and Fireball is my fav from that era of the band!!!

Man, I have been wanting to reply to this topic for days but have been overwhelmed in a hefty batch of new tunes that has been very much keeping busy in the listening dept.

Much thanks to Greg Gloomp, Schroeder, and Mezcal for the sweet trades! I am a pig in (real good) shit right now!!!

I have so much new stuff right now, I don't even know where to start...

Hey Skul... If you like that, you HAVE to pick up a copy of thier first album "To The Gory End". It blows Death Shalll Rise into the dirt. I'd copy it for you, but I have it on vinyl only and my record deck has died. Bummer.
I used to know these guys. I played in a band called Decomposed back in 1990, and we did a few gigs with them. Cool blokes. Did you ever see the promo video they made for... uhhh... can't remeber the song now.... it was from Death Shall Rise and was based on the Re-animator movie. I have that on tape somewhere. Fucking funny!!!

As for new stuff, I just ordered an experimaental 1960's recording called "White Noise". It's just a bunch of hippies who worked for the BBC sound effects department making fucking odd noises. It's off it's tits!!
Also been collecting the entire Free back catalogue.
"Marry me today, I'll give you all I have, except my guitar..." Paul Rodgers knows the score!

way-hey Nuclear Vampire! Man after my fucking metal heart!!

Would you believe I've only just got into the Priest after 15 years of being a metaller? I have to listen to Painkiller at least twice a day now, and I'm buying the rest of the remasters month by month.

I was going to get Ram It Down today (since I can't find Defenders..) but saw the new Halford one so got that instead. Did I..er...make a wise decision? Is Turbo really that bad? On a 'What the fuck?!' par with Cold Lake?

The new Rush one just gives me a bad, unfriendly vibe. Plus, it isn't Hemispheres II.

It saddens me to see bands like Rush put out a crappy C.D.! Let me guess, they're just impressing themselves. What about the thousands of people out there who wasted their money on this filth!?! But then again, maybe they're pulling a Bryan Adams. Its hard to believe that arguably the most repulsive C.D. that Bryan Adams released is also his most commercially succesful! Perhaps Rush is trying to cash in on this trend? Bastards! Too bad they couldn't release a "Perfect Strangers" type album like Deep Purple a few years after their golden daze!

Yeah, Turbo is pretty much Priest's Cold Lake. When it first came out I cried. I'm serious, I fuckin' wept! I thought they had abandoned Metal fans everywhere (especially me) and when the came to town I refused to go. I refused to listen to Ram It Down when it came out too. I saw the Priest...Live video and seeing those gay outfits made me rather ill. Then I heard Painkiller and my faith was restored (partially). Jugulator kicked ass and Demolition...it's okay. To be honest, I never heard a single note off Ram It Down until 2 years ago when I got it off Napster. It's shitty, but like I said it's all for the collection. Turbo actually grew on me in the last 5 or 6 years. There's a couple of tracks I really like: Turbo Lover, Out In The Cold, Reckless, Locked In. The rest is total '80's hair band shit.
The new Halford comes out on Tuesday here and I'll be first in line to get it! Resurrection was a fuckin' brilliant slab of Metal.
Can't say as I've heard any of the new Rush except the single. If I find it used I'll probably get it.
