That's not 'Live at Buff Hall' is it? If it is I have that vinyl too and yeah, it sounds terrible. I actually bought Jack Johnson's 'On and On' instead of downloading it like I do with a lot of music lately since I feel kind of bad doing that to someone who puts out their stuff themself. God, I feel like such a hippie now. Pass the splif d000d.

On Sunday I downloaded... Metallica - St Anger
I think I'll have to give this one a few more listens. First impression? Not bad. Not bad at all. It's not 80's Metallica, it's not Load-era either. Just for the record it's NOT nu-metal either. It's...I dunno. Anger rock? Tracks I like alot: Frantic St Anger (been stuck in my head all day) Sweet Amber The Unnamed Feeling A few observations: The songs are all TOO FUCKING LONG. Most should have been 5 minutes. Tops. Most are, in fact, 8 minutes or so. They just keep going, and going, and going... No solos. Now, I'm not one of these hammerheaded idiots who thnk all "tr00 metal" has to have the obligatory six string wankfest, but none at all? I can sort of see Kirk's point about how they would have sounded like an afterthought, but I would have arranged the songs differently to at least have a few lead breaks/harmony things here and there. The drums. Oh god, the fucking drums are SO FUCKING ANNOYING!! WTF?!? Somebody really dropped the ball on this one. Definetly the worst thing about the whole record. Overall - I still don't know. I don't hate it, nor do I dislike it. I think I will dig it after a few listens. It's gonna take some time for the shock to wear off. Maybe I should have put this in Skul's thread. Oh well.
No sense getting all "frantic" about it.
