This song and those following remind me of what I did not like about their two previous efforts. Creatively unchallenging...and subpar for a band who we all knew was way wayyyyyy capable of much more. But every single song prior to DP makes sense in the Voivod tradition. This band finally solidified as a unit....which for me makes his death even more tragic.
DAMN... you don't like the last 4!!??!!?? Deathproof does sound like it could have been on either of the last 2 albums. More straight forward with a punk edge but still a pretty cool tune. Pyramidome grooves and has that heavy classic Voivod vibe. Lyrically it reminds me of something that would fit perfectly on The Outer Limits and would have been a cool title for Away to create a 3-D image of. Morpheus seems to be a favorite of a lot of people here. To my ears it has a Nothingface feel to the structure of the song... builds, drops, builds, drops, builds, drops. Spacey parts, heavy parts, Love it. Volcano is just a cool fuckin Motorheadish song that pounds at ya. Just a fun fuckin tune... kinda like Tornado. -------------------- yawn

I'm surprised that people rate the Voivod (s/t) album last among the Jasonic-era albums. After letting Infini sink in for a few days, I would put it this way for me: Voivod > Infini > Katorz. For some reason, I just didn't get into Katorz, although I've tried and tried. There are some good tracks, but it feels to me like the most overall generic album from the three. No real stand out track, some catchy ones here and there, but kinda bland in the end. The s/t is not perfect, but tracks like Rebel Robot, The Multiverse and Reactor still manage to put a huge smile on my face after all these years. I can't say I feel like the same about any song off Katorz. Infini on the other hand has it's own personality, you can hear some DH here, some NFace there, a bit of Phobos here, etc. Like someone else mentionned, to me the album works right until Krap Radio, then it kinda goes downhill for me. I never really liked the slower-paced songs they've made in the last 3 albums, and it hasn't changed on Infini. The stand-out tracks to me are From the Cave, Earthache (groovy as fuck! brilliant...), Global Warning, Treasure Chase and Krap Radio. Finally, I can't stand Volcano. I dig the opening riff, yep it's very Motorheadish, but then it goes nowhere and feels more like a filler to me. I expect better from Voivod, and although I'm all for simplicity and straight-forward punk songs, this is NOT it. Sorry! Let the flaming begin
