I just read an article in today's edition of La Presse (Montreal newspaper) and there's a very interesting quote by Michel in it. Here's what it says (translated of course):

"Denis asked that we recover the tracks he had recorded. He wishes that, as a tribute to him, we finish the album."

That cheered me up... and it should cheer you up too.

This is good news, it would be tragic to have those songs just left behind...

I think it would be incredible if Blacky were asked to play bass on these tracks, no disrespect meant to Jason at all.

What better way to pay tribute to Denis than to make sure his music gets to our ears. This makes me smile in a time of misery.

Even with what Denis was going through he still was thinking about his music and making sure his wishes were carried out. He knew we all need to he him play.

Well, there were like 20+ songs recorded in "demo" form. I guess they have no other choice now but to use these as final renditions.

I'm sure they will be incredible no matter how good or bad they sound production-wise.

My guess is that they'll take the demo guitar tracks and isolate 'em and re-record new drums and stuff around 'em. But what do i know? It'll be a seriously happy day once i hear 'em, either way.

this line of thinking also leads me into the (probably in vain) question about the old shit-canned Albini stuff...

Piggy was working Pro Tools (rythm/solo...). So, his parts must sound GOOD.

That's great news. However I can't imagine how hard it will be for the band to finish that record.

This is heart warming news. Those of you who know me know that I went through something similar with my band a couple of years ago. And some of you here have even heard the album that resulted that was recorded under similar circumstances, and let me just tell you.....from my experience, the recording process for the band should be both difficult and joyous.
There will be so much poured into this project from here on out that it can only result in the most heartfelt recording we've ever heard from these guys. Piggy's effects will sound even more from out of this world as we listen knowing how close to his death these tracks were recorded.
As I mentioned in another post..as a tribute to the man and the band, I will be buying two CDs when it comes out: one for me, and another to give to someone who has never heard his playing. Just my token of appreciation. I'm asking we all do that. It can only help the band and help Piggy's legacy survive.

Many of us have that Death&Taxe$ CD, Mr.Mustard.
I again thank you for sending it to me, as its such a great album.
Its a very special album just as the final Voivod CD will be.

I really look forward to hearing it.

God bless Piggy, Away, Snake and Jasonic.

Yeah, I read that bit in the local paper, this morning. It cheered me up a bit.

This reminds me of "Free As A Bird", the "new" Beatles song that was made around a John Lennon demo. If the Beatles could do it with a crummy analog demo, I can't imagine how good it will sound with a Piggy-produced Pro-Tools demo.

I had a (hopeful) feeling that this might be so, great news, should be a 'heavy' listen in more ways than one.

Sweet! Something to smile about this week.

theres only so many double kick drum'd songs with singers shouting the F word you can take before it becomes extremely dull.

Love that idea mate. I'll be doing the same. Also thanks again for the D&T cd. It's one damn fine record.
