Just wondering if anyone here has any tattoos or piercings...what of? where at? etc.

I just got back from getting a magnolia bloom on my left fore-arm, so I thought I'd ask

Right now my left arm is covered with different blooms and leaves of "nature's own design"..but I must remind everyone that I'm still not a granola fag

And my right arm is covered in celtic and norwegian/viking designs.

p.s. The only "things" pierced are my ears, oh wait...I forgot about that good ol' PRINCE ALBERT beneath my shorts!!!

I only have a piercing in my navel and my ears, no tattoos, and no piercing south of the 49th, lol. I just re-read the Re-Search Modern Primitives book, it's got some excellent interviews with a few tattooists. I always thought that if I was going to get a tattoo that I would go to the Dutchman in Vancouver who's work I have admired for a long time.

No tatt's for this laddie. I prefer to grow my hair, then shave it,then grow it,then color it,then shave it etc. A friend is thinking about getting an armband, I told him to make the band out of a bunch of Korgull skulls, he hasn't got back to me yet.

Hey who's seen the "Jackass" movie? There is a innovative new way to get tattoo's done involving Henry Rollins, a 4 X 4 with big tires, real big shocks, and a bumpy road! I recommend trying it out...err perhaps not.

I would choose Voivod over Queensryche at any point in either's career.

As for me, old-school left-ear and no marks.
Not because I don't want one, only because I have never found any images I want
permanently attached to my skin.

I have 40% tattoo coverage on my body, mostly evil dark stuff as I love horror flicks and things of that nature. I have 8 piercings, used to have more, but I wanted to focus on the art.

Sean - you surprise me!
I have M.C. Esher's imposible cube tattooed on my arm. The guy who did it hated my guts for wanting something that was way beyond his abilities as an artist! It still came out well though. Been thinking of adding stuff around it for a while. Haven't decided what yet.

A Korgull skull was my first tattoo in 1991. I have a few others but prefer to blow money on guitars and old cars instead

I got an Astaroth symbol tattooed on my right upper arm in 1993 - it's simillar to the symbol on the actual CD of Tool's Aneama (?) album.

In 1996 I got a BIG tribal-type reverse S (or something) on my left arm. Inside the shape are lots of clockwork elements, cogs, metal teeth and rivets etc, as though you're seeing inside my arm. It was shaded purple, its now settled into a lilac-blue and the black parts are still well defined. I'll see if I can scan a photo of it.

I was going to have a tribal lizard curling round each wrist last summer but I ran out of money. Maybe this year.

None of it means jackshit, of course, but it beats wearing Tommy Halfiger and being a townie.

Since i am all excited about the new VOIVOD CD coming this year...It's time to revisit this old thread with a post of my Wife's Tattoo, which you will all recognize of course.

No, it is not on her ass!

She got this done just before my moving to Croatia.
Hope that she does not kill me for posting this!

Here's a photo of my right arm with my King Crimson Discipline Knot (1st tat) surround by my original design:

Here's a a computer workup on what I might have done next (in many sessions obviously) to finish off the arm. I did the mock up on the pc, printed out a life size version and will fine tune it with pencils to make it all work togeter. The idea is to have all these faces (mascots) pulling out from the original design with shading to look like the flesh is being creased, folded, torn, whatever. Or possibly to make them look like they are floating above bleeding musical notes. Not sure what will look best until I draw it all out. I also need to deside how much color I'll use (if any) in the faces.

If I can't get it to look good on paper or my tat guy says it won't work, than it's "back to the drawing board. But I really do hope I can pull this off, because i think it'll look KICK ASS. I just need to make everything work together so it just doesn't look like a bunch of different ideas randomly thrown on my arm. I can't think of anything better that sums me up, than something that shouts MUSIC, and those images cover the whole spectrum of my tastes. If I could get the whole "Bleeding Music" idea to pull it all together I'll be fuckin thrilled.

the House of Hair tat isn't only stupid, it's very poorly inked. I'm glad I have a couple friends who run a great Tattoo parlor and who are all top notch artists. I certainly wouldn't trust just anyone to give me a lifetime piece of body art.

I'll never get a tattoo, because it makes me think of Auschwitz. Yes, I know that's a very weird thing to say, but I just can't. I've read about 90-year-old concentration camp survivors who have tattoos (involuntary, of course), and it just creeps me out. The older I get, the less appealing it is. It isn't you who's got the problem... it's me.

That said, I don't mind tattoos on (most*) other people. In fact, they're fine for the most part, as long as they're not overdone. My uncle has an anchor tat from his time in the navy, back in the '50s. I think the Discipline knot is cool. Korgull is cool. The main criteria is that they're not on me...sorry, can't help it.

My "*most" qualifier above? (a) Tattoos on women - can't quite explain why it bothers me; (b) Anyone, male or female, who overdoes it (e.g., more than about 10% coverage); (c) Anyone who gets a tattoo on their FACE. Ew! Mike Tyson, for example. Also, any of those guys from the MS-13 gang (or whatever it's called) that turn their faces into perma-masks of scariness. Talk about scarred for life...

I apologize in advance if I've made anyone squirm - like I say, I don't know why I feel the way I do about this.

--------------------

My head explodes, my ears ring, I can't remember just where I've been.
