I'm reading Michael Criton's novel TIMELINE and the story is about travelling to the Multiverse worlds and it goes into detail about how this is possible and some experiments that show interference from another dimension or parallel universe. Anyway, I obviously thought of Voivod when the word MULTIVERSE came up and I was wondering if Snake read this book and it influenced his lyrics.

cool story by the way

Yeah, I've heard the term many times in my 42 years on this planet, and have seen a few cool movies relating to it also. I was curious if he drew some direct inspiration from something or if his lyrics were just based on thought in his own head about the theory.

It was interesting to read the book LUNAR PARK by Bret Easton Ellis which Steven Wilson of Porcupine Tree said influence a lot of his lyrics for Fear Of A Blank Planet. The strange thing was the book was nothing like I thought it would be based on the theme of the album, but I definitley read parts in the book that are directley related to certain songs on the album. The theme for the album is nothing sinilar to the theme of the book, just characters and ideas were parallel.

It's probably inspired by Michael Moorcock's Multiverse, the Eternal Champion and all that. Great stuff really, well worth the read.

...It is an especially intriguing idea though I've only heard the term a couple of times-I've read stuff by Phillip K.Dick that touched on alterna-verses(America,prison planet stuff)-this idea extendeds itself to some cheesy sci-fi shows about parallel worlds-Aside from the 'Dimension Hatross" album concept and the 60's espisode of "The Outer Limits"-"Wolf 359"(about a scientist-Patrick Mcneal who creates a small planet that's haunted by a ghost that feeds off energy-soon the planet quickly evolves from primitive agrarianism to building weapons-to get rid of the ghost,he destroys the planet)-As far as Voivod's own concept of "Multiverse"(it appeared elsewhere back in '03 when they scrapped this concept-big mistake!..to go ahead with the s/t cd-Away even had a few preliminary drawings(under "proto-galaxy"). It roughly goes like this-The planets, suns and moons of different universes are held together by a weblike configuration in which thirteen planets each have a spider-like creature ruling each universe..I really wish they went ahead with that one cuz I wonder how the Voivod character would fit into that one-maybe jettisoned into the "Multiverse",forever in limbo-never to return...Anyways,I'm reading this book called"CYBORG" about a scientist from Toronto who has created clothing/headware with computer applications and when I'm done with that,it'sback to "THE ROAD TO DUNE" and "HUNTERS OF DUNE"-can't wait til "SANDWORMS OF DUNE" comes out in paperback.......

"Chaosmongers are resistant...."

Wait til you get to "RETURN OF THE BRIDE OF DUNE" and "DUNE VS. MECHAGODZILLA".

Is it me or those Dune spin-offs are really starting to get ridiculous?

(sorry for hijacking thread)
