James Brown, 73, passed away this morning while sleeping. The hardest working showman ever earned my respect with his undying wisdom - get up like a sex machine! RIP James.

Bummer.

I saw a documentary on him a couple years ago and there was a part that i really liked... apparently, his musicians were obligated to watch him all the time when they were onstage with him, because if he turned around and caught 'em not looking at him, he'd either fine or fire 'em. hehe.

I was lucky enough to see James Brown perform about 10 years ago. He was an absolute entertainment dynamo; nothing short of "fucking amazing" to watch...and in his sixties!

Sad news on Christmas. Weird too. I just added his box set to my iPod last week.

Just finished watching his funeral. I live here in his hometown so all the local networks were jumping over themselves with glee to cover every second of it. The funeral was quite a show. Even Jacko showed up and gave a pretty nice speech. Very strange event....even the wife/girlfriend who they wouldn't let onto JB's property was up on stage performing with her band.

Thanks for the article. The description of the beginning of a James Brown show is 100% precise. You could go to the show without the least interest and find yourself entranced by the time he hit his first note. It was so powerful.
