Hi Voivodfans
if you speak French, could you see if you recognize these songs and/or please translate for me some of the lyrics to these songs? I'm trying to figure out what band made these songs and the titles of these songs. They are great, and sound sort of like some sort of neat Roxy Music/early Joy Division punk rock combination or something. I'd really like to be able to figure out what band/musicians these are by, maybe you know? Thanks for any help,

Both of these are old Aut'Chose songs...the original versions from the 70's. Both were also re-recorded on the last album Chansons D'Épouvante, featuring Piggy and Away.

1) Ambulance Francoeur.
2) Les Pays D'En Haut.

And i have a feeling that Halaine Peau will soon hijack this thread. Hehe.

They were hijack from the site. They play for 30 to 45 seconds... It's OK. Those are old songs! 1975-76.

Here's the lyrics in glorious french-canadian:

Ambulance Francoeur

L’homme invisible
Le fantôme de l’avant-bras
Le docteur Dracula
Y t’attend dans l’détour
ATTENTION!

Moé — toé
Pis l’bonhomme de neige
On va jouer aux bras.

For the translation, sorry. It's a bit too long for me to do.

Oh, wow! That makes sense--I had these on my computer, and couldn't figure out where I had gotten them from. Pretty fantastic music--kind of reminds me of old Gong or something too--I will definitely be buying some old Aut'Chose CDs!

That reminds me--I think it's French Canadian--does anyone know of a band Coincidence? I have one of their LPs, and I think it may have been an influence on Away for the Nothingface art. The first track is kind of "Nothingface"-like in terms of funky spacy drums and bass--but the art, there is a picture/cartoon inside for each song, and the layout/style kind of reminds me of Nothingface (minus the robots). Pretty neat stuff!

GOOD GOOD GOOD LUCK for finding those CD of old Aut'Chose - apart for the first album, that was released in Cd in 1991 - and discontinued right away, nothing has been rereleased. Yet. I'm working on it... But it's long and winding road.

Francoeur's ambulance best bit (thanks to BabelFish! Always there for a good laff!) :

I shoot some Raid on my bugs
My heart's in fried potato grease
My neurons trail on the floor
The cat is eating them
I have a depression
At my door's songs
I'm the Elvis of the Suburb...

Stuff like in 1975 was quite rare...
And Francoeur recite those words
on hard rock... quite rare, again...

I'll check that out, I have one of their vinyl in a big pile at home. I'll try to listen to it and let you know what I think. (As if you care.) I thought maybe they were French?

Oh, yeah: Aut'Chose rules!
