Hey,
I wanna know what is your favorite part of Voivod... The Trash beginning, The progressif middle part, The Screamy Eric Forest period or the new Voivod sound on the last CD?

Me, I prefer the middle part between Trash and Progressif... Like Killing Technology (My favorite one =D), Dimension Hatross...

But what's your favorite periode?!

Dimension Hatross & Phobos are the ones I listen to most. Closely followed by Killing Technology, Nothingface & Angel Rat.
I like all of 'em really! apart from some of the last one .. but I've slagged that one to death already I think..

You checked out Project:Failing Flesh yet?

And did you heard the song that snake have done with the side project of Dave Grohl... Dictatosaurus, It reminds me some of the song on The outher limit, and I think this CD Kick major ass! anyway... Try to imagine what Voivod have become if Snake and Blacky have been in the band all the time! I think that it would look like the whole Forest part replace by a return to the Thrash time! Like a new War and Pain period! It would be out of controle!!!!

Well IMO, this part is already out of control. Listen carefully to Negatron, those guys were so pissed of at the time because people said they'd better quit. That comneback was a very nice one. I remember hearing the first tunes of Insect for the first time and i was so much blown away after the AR and TOL period. I almost cried. Negatron is in many ways a very strong album.

Check out Project Failing Flesh: a beautiful sickness and E-Force: Evil Forces. You won't be disappointed. I asure you.

my fav period of the Voivod was Dimension Hatross, Nothingface, Angel Rat, The Outer Limits. 4 of the best evolving thrash progressive metal ever released.

I still listen to them all the time, and even the latest self titled cd is great IMHO, and spin that a lot also. You can tell the band was just having a fun time recording and playing together. Aside from a few quirky lyrics I love it. Nothing ground breaking (like most of us were expecting) but a damn good vibe.

Agreed with Paul there! Good thing they didn't quit. I love the albums they did with Eric. Insect is one of my favourite songs also. And Phobos is one of the best albums in metal ever to be recorded! It is up there with Reign in Blood & Master of Puppets.
And the Snake track is definately the best one on the Probot album, love it! Although I'm wondering why his vocals sound better on that track than on the last Voivod.

My favorite Voivod era is the "trilogy":
KILLING TECH
DIMENSION
NOTHINGFACE

But I love TOL (Jack Luminous!), Angel Rat (the demos are great too!) and PHOBOS is an underrated masterpiece.

Nothingface.

My God, this album is so fucking atrocious. It's the equivalent of shitting on the ceiling. Sure, it's different, and takes some effort, but in the end, it's just shit all the same.

Cool topic!

I prefer the refined sound of Angel Rat.
It helped to have the great Terry Brown as Producer on that one too.
(Please dont kill me Blacky and Warcorpse)
The only problem with TB is that he slightly mucked up Blacky's tracks.
Everyone else sounded great to me.

I really enjoy listening to the great Bass work on The Outer Limits as well.
Got a lot of respect for what Pierre St-Jean did on that CD.

Dimension Hatross and Nothingface are masterpieces of course.

Blacky cannot be replaced and will always remain one of my favorite Bass players of all time.
Not only that, but he is a great human being as well. A great friend to have.

Another of my favorite Voivod guys is Eric Forrest.
His raw talent and brutality go unmatched in most of the metal i have heard.
I still dont understand why Piggy and Away didnt continue down the direction they went
with Eric on Bass and Vox.
To me it remains some of the most powerfull Metal i enjoy listening to as i run Bosnians off the road in my badass Renault.
There was a certain chemistry there and it is missed.

Do i like Jasonic on Bass?
.....Not on the last CD.
I am keeping an open mind to see what he does next though.
I know he is a talented guy who has proven that many times.
My main problem with the last CD was the Bass being too low.
I guess if you sum it all up with everyone here, the number one problem would come down to
the Mixing/Mastering of the last Voivod CD.
Some songs were good, others bad...but the Mix sucked.
And no, Mr. Away, i dont hate you just because i said that.
(Your Drums were great as always.)

Cheers!

I think you all were reading Slaytanic's "signature" as part of his post on the album NOTHINGFACE when I doubt it was suppose to relate to how he feels about that album at all... I'm sure Slay's feelings on NF are that it's a fuckin masterpiece of audio art...

... right, Slay?

Right, right. Thanks for clarifying that, Schro.
