that is an excellent question warcorpse, something i have always wondered so i asked around and the answer i got was that very often, the Japanese label will ask the licesnor for bonus material to entice the Japanese customer into buying the Japanese manufactured CD, as imported CDs are cheap(er) and plentiful throughout the country - the Japanese government taxes locally manufactured CDs at a very high rate, causing the price difference.

Japanese CD costs 2,500-3,000 yen (about 21-26 US dollars.)
I purchase sometimes more cheaper import CD when Japanese record companies don't add any bounus track to Japanese CD.

Japanese CD Pakage incluede a liner note (it's silly usually), lyrics translation and OBI with bounus track.

I'm thinking of a metalhead kid, who looks up - hmmm - Thrash Metal, because he want's to know. He sees links to Metallica, Slayer and what ever ..Sadus. These links function. And then he sees a link to Voivod. Interesting name he thinks and clicks it. This link is dead. Nothing. Poor kid (he don't know Google).
