Of course, I stole this from Blabbermouth:

JASON NEWSTED Envisions ROCK AND ROLL HALL OF FAME Reunion With METALLICA - Mar. 11, 2003

Former METALLICA and current VOIVOD bassist Jason Newsted recently told Contra Costa Times newspaper has a "cool vision" that when METALLICA gets inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, a move rock historians say is all but inevitable, he will reunite with the band to perform at the ceremony.

"I'd be there in a heartbeat, to show my pride in what we accomplished," Newsted says. As for now, he says, "I want them to come out and kick (ass)."

In the same interview, Newsted discussed his pending gig as the bassist in OZZY OSBOURNE's touring band, which he said came about when Sharon Osbourne, Ozzy's wife, manager and costar of MTV's hit reality show "The Osbournes", called him to offer VOIVOD a slot on the on the huge summer tour.

"She said, 'Now at the same time, I'd like to ask you if you'd be interested in coming down to jam with Ozzy,'" Jason said, relaying how Ozzy himself called a day later.

Jason stressed that he hasn't accepted a job yet, but admits letting his "mind run with it." Even for an established rock artist, playing with a legend and pop-culture icon can be awe-inspiring. "I stepped off the mountain, and now I might be 'Over the Mountain'." (referring to the classic Ozzy song of the same name).

With Ozzy headlining, don't forget.

And I never liked Flotsam And Jetsam. Their singer is too creepy and their songs were generic, boring thrash totally like everything else on Metal Blade in 1985-1986.

I saw them live in 1993 or 94, opening for Mercyful Fate and Cathedral and they bored the piss out of me. The best thing was the shirts they were selling. Black with flourescent green text: I'M SO FUCKING HAPPY.

That was cool. But fuck the rest. "Doomsday For The Deceiver". What is that supposed to mean, anyway?

Im a big flotsam and jetsam fan. I think they rule and there music is very awsome, and i also think that Eric A.k is a kick ass vocalist. Doomesday for the deciver is my favorite flot album. I think my three favorite bands are flotsam and jetsam, voivod, and metallica.

We all have our opinions, and i respect yours, but i must ask you, how could you not like them???

"I'M SO FUCKING HAPPY"

That's from the song "No More Fun" on the When The Storm Comes Down album... like, the world is sucking itself up its own ass, there's no more fun in the world, but i'm so fucking happy!

I love Flotsam... especially the first 5 albums (up to Drift).

I agree yet I understand what is going on here. Jason is staging an all out media blitz to help aim the spotlight on Voivod. He could have made all this noise with his other projects, but didn't. All this speculation and big talk is tied perfectly with the release of the album. For publicity's sake, it's genius. For record sales, it may help. For the Voivod fans who've been here for years sticking it out with the band, it's a bit much. Trust me, I love seeing them on TV and hearing them on the radio now (they've been getting spins on one of the FM stations near here.), but the ceaseless "Newsted rumormill" is beginning to overshadow the intention.
