Aardschok Issue January 2003 says following:
Former Metallica Bass player Jason Newsted is at the moment in the studio with VOIVOD to do the last work on their new album with working title: The Multiverse” According to Jason the sound will be a mix between Metallica and Voivod
Jason is responsible for mixing the album and has tried to fit the bass-sound of Metallica’s black album in to the VOIVOD album without breaking down the VOIVOD sound.
Let’s hope this is just an advertisement to sell more albums to let’s say Metallica fans. And let’s not hope that Voivod has sold their soul to Commercialism. I could not stand Voivod going Middle of the road. This feeling happened to me once buying “Cold Lake”. You what i am talking about….

Paul...as fellow Dutchman ya oughta know Aardschok sukks BIG TIME ass. What do they know? 'Multiverse' is gonna piss off many Newsted / 'tallica fans. HIS contribution to 'tallica was NIHIL and only now we're gonna see what he really stands for. Piggy wrote everything anyway!
PS: you're going to X-Mass Metal Meeting in Tilburg?

You mean the Me-tallica albums with Jason actually had bass?!? Multiverse is going to be a straight-up traditional Voivod offering (meaning no middle-of road compromising). It's going to be insane, even if the bass sounds like Black album (which songs have bass? All I remember is James' shitty voice and acoustic guitar coupled with a 'Lil Tikes drum machine, all later manipulated to sound louder during production)

Aardschok is one of the few Dutch Metal-oriented zines so there is little choice. I bought some issues of British zine Terrorizer once. It's much better and less focussed on commercialism, still it's not easy to get that stuff here and quite expensive too.
En ja, ik ga naar X-Mass Metal Fest volgende week. Immolation heerst!
