It recently leaked and it sucks.
Two good songs, thats it!
The rest are bad. I think that stupid and weak are accurate descriptions.

How can I decribe it?
A death metal band tries to experiment with metalcore and fails.
I don't think this will work out for them. It's one thing
to start you career as metalcore and switch to death metal.
The fans may follow, but try to get death metal fans to listen
to melodic/metalcore sellout songs, no chance. I can't wait
to see reviews of this.

The singing is terrible!

The keyboard/samples, useless.

Drumming is great (but why bother?)

Now there are two good songs. They have a taste of Cryptopsy with
a mix of Beneath the Massacre or The Faceless. (two bands I like).

Don't buy the new Cryptopsy, download it.
Let the "new" fans buy it.

Yes, agreed. After the first two tracks which I thought were really nice....the album quickly spirals down into the abyss of painfully awful attempts at teenemocore. 'The Plagued' is so bad I almost went into convulsions trying to find the stop button on the winamp. Definitely the Cold Lake of their career.

I believe they are on the Summer Slaughter tour...trying to find some new fans.

Again today on my drive in I tried listening to this new CD, looking for
any glimmers of hope. Just the first two songs are all you get.

This reminds me of when Metallica put out St. Anger with that snare ping.
Like how could it get released? Wasn't anyone listening? Same with this
Cryptopsy, what were they thinking?

They are a fish out of water on this CD. It would be like me trying to write
a rap album that sells. I would not know what to do. I don't know the market.

I've heard some bad noises about this album but I will still take a listen, just to see if it is as bad as people are saying it is.

Please don't tell me we've lost another cutting edge death metal band...

KnickerZohnonnof,

I am looking forward to hearing your review of this.

Looks like the reviews are starting to come out, here are some highlights and links:

"The album sounds like it was written by businessmen"
"universally embarrassing clean vocals"
"bad breakdowns and feigned emotion"
"this entire record just sounds half-assed."
"Anytime things start to sound good, they'll ruin things by slowing down or singing"
"I actually do prefer strange and somewhat uncomfortable ideas explored in metal, but these vocals flat out suck".

"Cryptopsy has chosen a newer style that despite having intentions of reaching more listeners will only serve to alienate both those targeted and their longtime fans who have supported them for over 15 years. Change is not always a good thing, and it will show that in this case, it can be utterly disasterous."

I have no tolerance for sellout bands.
I recommend the new Origin, new Brain Drill, new Deicide.

It's the first record without John Levasseur riffs and it really hurt. There's some good moments but overall it's not my cup of tea.
