Slayer should never open for anybody! They were the definition of a headliner band. The crowds in the 80s were brutal to any band that dared open for them, haha. Poor Overkill didn't stand a chance in front of Slayer on the Reign In Blood tour... I saw them play to a full crowd of middle fingers yelling "SLAYER!!!" for their entire set, haha. Anthrax over Slayer on a bill? That's just wrong, haha. -------------------- I am a robot... bleep blop bloop

Well, it's no surprise but here it is, from the FB page, official band statement:We've just learned that the official cause of Jeff's death was alcohol related cirrhosis. While he had his health struggles over the years, including the recent Necrotizing fasciitis infection that devastated his well-being, Jeff and those close to him were not aware of the true extent of his liver condition until the last days of his life. Contrary to some reports, Jeff was not on a transplant list at the time of his passing, or at any time prior to that. In fact, by all accounts, it appeared that he had been improving – he was excited and looking forward to working on a new record. Not a big shock, really, but still quite sad. I'm still however shocked about his untimely passing, Slayer was my favorite band when I was not even a teen yet, back in '86 right before Reign dropped. I didn't even know who Voivod was for another 2 years, and well they took over as my fave band lol...Anyways, they are deeply engrained into my life so to speak. --------------------

A bit late, but shocking news, that was totally unexpected. Well, one of the greats is gone, at least we have his body of work which will last for the ages. RIP Jeff Hanneman!-------------------- "Forty-five moments of perfection translated through a cautionary escape into the perils of the mundane, the inherent entropy in ultimate order, and the potential threats of eternal, unchecked apathy in civilization; all cloaked in musical expression so thoughtful, creative and forward thinking that almost a quarter-century later, few can even comprehend it, much less match it."
