I'd also read that it was intended to sound like Dogs. Ripping off is easy. Intentionally alluding to something while keeping sight of a completely different idea is something a bit more tricky.

In this instance, the song in question is about his musical influences growing up. The opening lines reference Sgt. Pepper and Are You Experienced?. The opening progression is reminiscent of Pink Floyd, and the song takes off from there.

Nothingface pretty much summed up the reason why PT basically paid tribute to Floyd. The band has major PF influences, especially back in the beginning and the lyrics of the song give reason why the acoustic parts are very blantantly Floydian.
Now stop trying stir up shit about one of my favorite bands!!!
