Metal Mind Productions presents the re-release of seventh studio album by Voivod - “The Outer Limits” (1993). This was the last album Voivoid recorded with their vocalist Snake until, exactly 10 years later, they released their self-titled reunion album in 2003. “The Outer Limits” features a perfect blend of past formulas with new and innovative ideas. On this album, Voivod mixed various thematic and musical elements with ease, which resulted in their most powerful, diversified, and mature release. This album is a benchmark for Voivod. Includes a cover of Pink Floyd's song, "The Nile Song" (from the album “More”). The booklet features a 3D graphic design, which can be viewed through special 3DG glasses that come along with the CD. The new digipak edition is limited to 2000 copies. Digitally remastered using 24-Bit process, released on a golden disc.
Re-release of “The Outer Limits” will be available on 29th September 2008 in Europe and 28th October 2008 in USA (via MVD).

Bio
Voivod - an influential progressive metal band from Canada. They evolved through an early speed metal phase, through thrash metal, always with a unique sound. Born from the Thrash Metal era, but always, more than a Thrash Metal band, Voivod have made some of the most satisfying and challenging extreme rock music of the modern era. Ever since their debut album, “War And Pain”, hit the streets in 1984, the Voivod had combined and intelligent, thoughtful approach with some of the most blitzing riffs known to humankind. Since then, seminal albums such as 1988’s “Dimension Hatross”, 1989’s “Nothingface”, 1991’s “Angel Rat” and 1993’s “The Outer limits” have proven to be among the most influential of their kind. Voivod were exploring the concepts of Cyberpunk and state-of-the art artificial intelligence long before most people had assimilated these into their everyday life. The band delved into the oft-sullied waters of the “concept” album, while most of their contemporaries were still struggling with the notion of the four-minute song. Their astounding musical prowess, restless intellectual awareness and keen sense of futuristic perspective has always kept them several steps ahead of most modern bands. And the band’s success has been largely in earning the respect and acknowledgement of their peers.
Voivod briefly disbanded in 2001. The last incarnation of Voivod featured three of the four founding members: Denis Bélanger (aka Snake, vocals), Denis D'Amour (Piggy, guitars), and Michel Langevin (Away, drums) along with Jason Newsted (Jasonic, of Flotsam and Jetsam and Metallica) on bass guitar. Guitarist Denis D'Amour died at the age of 45 on August 26, 2005 due to complications from colon cancer. Their most recent record is “Katorz”, released in July 2006. The album is based around riffs found on the laptop of guitarist Denis D'Amour. Just prior to his death, he left instructions for his fellow band mates on how to use them. Voivod is planning to release their fifteenth studio album sometimes in 2008/2009. This will mark the first album recorded without D'Amour.
