I just thought I would drop in to say I finally got to meet Blacky tonight when Martyr played here in Hamilton! I have never met him before, despite having seen him play with Voivod about 5 times in the late 80s.
Since they are one of my favourite bands, I did something I never do and asked him to sign my War & Pain and Rrroarrrr LPs and Killing Technology and Angel Rat CDs. These are the same ones I had signed by the rest of the band back in 2003 and now they are complete! My wife and I are going to frame the LP covers and put them up in our music room.
Someone took a photo of Blacky, my friend and I earlier tonight. I will ask him to post it later on this week, or teach me how to, as I don't know for sure how to do it.

I forgot to mention, Martyr were excellent live tonight too. They totally did it for me. I went home a very happy man!

You got him to sign the Angelrat album?
I was going to ask him to sign my copy of the s/t but forcing him to listen to it in my car seemed cruel enough.

Martyr kept playing Voivod riffs during their line check before they played, and Blacky told me he was very full from all-you-can-eat sushi, but I don't know if anyone pulled a prank.
Martyr really impressed me, it was my first time seeing them live.

I was at that show as well. Lots of good pics all weekend at the shows with Martyr. This was the first time I met Blacky, but he is likely the nicest person I have ever met. Him, and the guys from Martyr hung out at my place that afternoon. Genuinely nice people.
