More Industrial than the Thrashy "Fallen" disc, Fields of the Nephilim
late 2005 release, "Mourning Sun" should be enjoyed by Doom as well
as Thrash Metal listeners.

The signature McCoy vocals are the main instrument to focus on
here (as opposed to shredding guitars or fast drumming) and the
result is a darker, sonically imaginative landscape produced with
backing growls/vocals, keyboards, sound effects and some
programmed loops which give it a modern sound.

While the first half of the disc is mainly centered around aggressive
upbeat rock, the second half climaxes with slower, grinding melody
reminding one of the older Nephilim ballads.

As many aggressive rock/metal bands still focus on speed and technical prowess, Fields of the Nephilim emphasize an overall mellower vibe.

The album is both immensely majestic and tragic, all at once.Sheer morbid fascination, moody and contagious, this one will have a return stay in your disc platter the more you give it a chance.

Avante garde and challenging.

Not available in the US yet, the SPV import can be found on Amazon co. UK, and well recommended.

Wow! I love F.O.T.N. ... though "Zoon" (under the monicker "Nefilim") was kinda dissappointing to me ... not a bad album at all, but not as melodically delicious as their previous releases.

I hope this album has the right balance between their old style with some interesting metal influences. That dude can really sing in an awesome dark way.

cheers!
