This is suppose to be true : when recording The Equatorial Stars early this year, guitar master Robert Fripp and keyboard wizard Brian Eno were listening to a lot a Voivod.

And I wouldn't be surprise.
Can somebody confirm this?
Pat Masteletto said so anyway.
So it must be true...

I certainly wouldn't doubt it, especially if Pat mentioned it. He seems to be the voice of KC since Fripp like to keep everything hush hush.

Fripp mentioned in his diary years ago about how much he loved Tool and when they played with Tool for a mini opening tour I think it was Danny Carey (tool's drummer) who to ld Fripp how much they worshipped KC and how much they influenced them and if Fripp could hear the influences in their music, in which Fripp staed NO... that's funny.

Fripp has a very interesting and ecclectic taste in music which would certainly mean VOIVOD would be a perfect band for Robert to listen to. I've mentioned numerous times how much similarity I see in VV and KC so this is easy for me to believe. Beside, Voivod would have had to get permission to record 21st Century Schizoid Man so if Fripp hadn't known of Voivod before then, that would have given him every reason to check out their music.

Fripp is opening for Porcupine Tree on the upcoming tour in the states and the UK dates. He'll be doing soundscapes. He's also a big fan (along with most of KC_ of PT's music and has appeared on Steve Wilson's Bass Communion project years ago and Belew contributed some solos to the Deadwing album.

Here's what i found when i googled "Robert Fripp Voivod":

I

>>their new album "Negatron", so it might be a b-side or something from a

I posted to ET about this a long time ago. I read it in the College Music
Journal many years ago, and also asked Snake (Voivod's former lead
singer) when I interviewed him years ago.

Voivod was going to cover 21CSM for their album "The Outer Limits", but
Their label said no as they thought it was too obscure. They were then
going to do a Van Der Graaf Generator cover which the record company
didn't even know who they were, so they settled for Pink Floyd's "The
Nile Song". If people are interested I can dig up the article in CMJ and
type the part about 21CSM. Then again, maybe with a new label Voivod is
considering covering it again. I think Voivod would be the PERFECT band
to cover that song. For those of you who have not heard them before, and
can stand "metal", I highly reccomend picking up their album
"Nothingface", it's a gem and as hard as it is to believe, their cover of
"Astronomy Domine" is better than Pink Floyd's. They also do a song that
reminds me a lot of a track off ELP's "Brain Salad Surgery" (Tacatto?)
The last 3 Voivod albums with Snake (Nothingface, Angel Rat, Outer
Limits) are very progressive rock influenced (Pink Floyd, ELP, KC,
Rush...) and I highly reccomend them.

It's taken from some newsletter. Cool to see they once considered covering Van Der Graaf! They could do it for the next album.

Also, by the same google search, i found out that JY produced an album by Visible Wind? WTF?
