Just got hold of this, sorry if it's old news, but it makes for a pretty intersting read. I've scanned it in at a readable size as I don't have time to type it out! Click the links:

Great article, thank you very much for the scan!
Oh, the missing demos to be released on the 2nd DVD?!

btw, here's a scan of a totally useless live report, from Enfer Magazine, feb. 1987. Voivoid.
Pretty lame, there's nothing worth translating. The french Metal press really sucked, we needed the internet badly!

Hell comes on tour

Cheers Harry! I try really hard not to get overexcited by Away's talk about the supa-dupa DVD package with all the fucking demos on it...but it sounds so sweet

heh heh... I thought there might be one or two bits that tickled you!

By the way - I've lost track of who does what round here since corpse retired, but go ahead and add these to the site's archives if you think they're worth it. It's about time I contributed!!

It's from the latest Metal Hammer UK (June 2005). Malcome Dome (who wrote the article) has always been a bit of a Voivod campaigner. Top bloke!

Cool article.

Thanx for posting.

Still wish I had my old Noise magazine article.

That'd be cool to post.

Hey Blacky, it'd be cool to get your take on events over that Hatross period of Voivod history.

Seems Away does most of the talking about everything

Re: The Story Behind Voivod’s Dimension Hatross

Malcome Dome’s article on the history of Dimension Hatross from your June
2005 issue was fascinating. However, my recollections of that time are
less colourful than Michel Langevin’s. His memory of bikers from the
topless bar bursting into our place and threatening to kill us is over the
top. The guys I spoke to weren’t even bikers the bikers were in the
building next door. And the “rockets” being lobbed at us in Berlin were
fireworks being thrown by kids on New Years Eve.

Personal dramas aside, the article seemed to suggest that we used samplers
during the period that we were making DH but in fact we did not use
samplers until we made our fifth record, Nothingface. Prior to that it was
all processed live sound layed on tape.

What I found most interesting was Langevin’s claim that the music for
Dimension Hatross “came easily” considering that he didn’t do any of the
initial composing. His role was to add his drum ideas to what Piggy (Denis
D’Amour) and I had already come up with. But he did come up with the
concept and storyline for the record (which may have come easily).

He is correct that I often changed my mind about musical direction, but
that is part of the creative process, and not a result of being easily
led. I was stubborn and did not hold back when it came to pushing the band
towards making the most innovative recordings we could. This may have made
me difficult to work with but I have always believed that remaining
stagnant in your approach to making records only yields boring results.

I second that bravo. That was just the response I was looking for....that last paragraph spells out why VV started going downhill after Blacky left the group.

well, if you replace the Robin Hood theme by the opening of Experiment, this wall of hamsters becomes, let's say, hypnotic.

And nice answer Blacky!

EDIT: Wall of Hamsters, now THAT would be a cool bandname!

Nice one Blacky. You're not the only one who's had rocks thrown & crap talked about them by that particular person. It's bound to backfire on him sooner or later.
Stating the bloody obvious here I know.

It is good to hear Blacky's side of the story.
