Have you heard about the Minutemen documentary We Jam Econo? We Jam Econo
That and Joe Kid on a Stingray are the two must sees for me this year.

You can get anything from the Minutemen and not be disappointed, it is all excellent. My favorite is Paranoid Time, their first record. Most of their 7" are compiled on the Post Mersh Vol. 1-3 CDs. You can get all of them from SST.

i've been wanting to see that minuteman film as well. i've watched some good music docs recently, the ramones - end of the century - and the MC5 - a true testimonial - both were really interesting.

Well, as expected, NoMeansNo did not disappoint. I have to say that I enjoyed the Tacoma show better than the Portland show because I had a better view, the sound was better and the set list included two of my favorites that weren't played in PDX. Although in PDX we were on the left side of the stage, right behind John and fuck is he an amazing drummer!

After all the times seeing them I finally got to meet them and I also got a couple of pictures with them. Not sure how they'll come out but I will share if I don't look like a total idiot with a stupid wide grin and "thumbs up"....fuck that was cool though!

I met a couple of cool people from the NoMeansNo forum and here are some pictures taken by one of them:

NMN - Berkeley, CA

I just saw End of the Century too. Phil Spector really is a freak, I thought it ws just media hype.

Another cool documentary to check out is Dig!. It's about The Brian Jonestown Massacre and The Dandy Warhols. Not metal bands by any means but still an excellent film.

Cool. I just saw this last night with the girl I met at NoMeansNo a few weeks ago.

The only thing I really knew about them was that Mike Watt used to be in the band and that they were a punk band....hmm, was I wrong about that!? Seems to me (and all punks of the time) that they were NOT punk and that they put a new positive spin on the whole movement. Pretty incredible story and D. Boon seemed like an amazing musician and person. It's sad when someone with so much passion and love for music and his fellow human beings is taken. I love the fact that his mother encouraged him to make and play music rather than hang out in the streets doing who knows what.

The film makers were there taking questions at the end and they are planning a DVD release with tons more video footage and interviews. I was amazed at the amount of live footage from way back when. Oh, and a book is also in the works.

See it if you can. I'm off to find me some Minutemen.....
