Anyways, the Down show was fucking KICKIN! Kick-in. And no it wasn't because of all the brownies I ate either haha...Anyways none of them are strung out on dope anymore, Bower and Phil are clean as can be. Hell, even Kirk Windstein looks like he lost 40 pounds or so, they all were in really good shape. They are serious about this project, the new album is pretty much all written and demoed, some people I know got to hear some of the demo and said it is more of a return to the first album, but with big time playing like on the second. Bower has gotten so much better at drums, even though he never really was a slouch to begin with. ANYWAYS I met all of them, hell even Phil, and he was cool as can be. He showed us his Morbid Tales tat on his back. He's a HUGE CF fan. I didn't really talk to him though. I'm not a groupie like some of these crazy Pantera fans that worship every word he says. And since he isn't on downers/heroin anymore he doesn't say stupid shit between songs. I was shocked haha. He's actually fuckin normal now. So back to the show....They played for an hour and 40 minutes and played one new song called "I Scream". It was really Sabbathy. This new album is going to blow everyone away. Even if you don't like Down or even know what they sound like, it is gonna fuckin appeal to anyone that likes really good music. Bottum line. These people are on top of their game. A lot of people don't realize how great a bass player Rex is either. So enough of my rant, here are a couple pics my buddy took with his bad-ass camera. And the old guy is Terry Date (some producer ) And a pic of Pepper for Schroeder

Secret Chiefs 3 and Sleepytime Gorilla Museum Grinnell College, Iowa - March 9, 2007I drove down to Grinnell, Iowa from Minneapolis Friday night, sick as a fucking DOG, to see this show. Far beyond worth it. SC3 was dabbling in previously inconcievable syncopation techniques. Trey Spruance is nothing short of a fucking genius IMO, (albeit a frustrated one) and while there was ZERO repartee with the audience (infact, NO substantial words from any of the band members whatsoever, IIRC) there were several moments of spellbinding musical rapture for myself and many others in attendance. I cannot recommend SC3's 'Book of Horizons' highly enough. Easily one of the best albums of the last decade. As for SGM, they were 'Top of the Pops', as usual. A while back, I informed all of you VVFans not to miss this band... have any of you managed to see them yet? There's a new CD on the way in May, along with more touring. Every one of you must see this band in your lifetime. I really enjoyed the fact that both the college and my OLD-school motel room were located on a section of OLD U.S. Highway 6. I snapped a few decent pics of my experience, and hope to write a review and an SGM feature for the site when I'm feeling better. 104 temperature as I write this, so I bid you all a good night... -------------------- "You have the option to drill additional holes in the label, causing the record to rotate off the side of the turntable" -Tom Ellard - Severed Heads

Tang, hope you're feeling better! I'd love to catch either SGM or SC3 live. Great bands. Here's my tiny review of sorts from the Heaven And Hell show on the 18th. The show was killer. I missed Down and half of Megadeth because my daughter's figure skating show was the same night. She did real good though. What I did see of Megadeth was good. Symphony of Destruction, Hangar 18, Holy Wars, Peace Sells, Mechanix. Sounds was a tad muddy and Glen's leads were a bit hard to hear at times. Dave sounded pretty decent. H&H were amazing. Dio can still sing like hell. Seeing this line up has been a dream come true in a way. Mob Rules is one of my top albums ever and was a huge influence on me as a kid. Setlist: 01. E5150 02. After All (The Dead) 03. The Mob Rules 04. Children of The Sea 05. Lady Evil 06. Ear In The Wall 07. I 08. The Sign of The Southern Cross 09. Voodoo 10. The Devil Cried 11. Vinny Appice Solo 12. Computer God 13. Shadow of The Wind 14. Die Young 15. Heaven and Hell (long and exteneded version - mind blowing!) 16. Neon Knights No Falling Off The Edge Of The World though. The arena's website says there were 7500 people there, but it looked like more to me. They posted some great pics too. Check them out http://www.mtscentre.ca/press_releas...p?press_id=224

Down didn't even play, they cancelled because Phil A had strep throat. So I think you lucked out because Megadeth and H&H got to extend their sets Glad you had a good time man, congrats on your daughter as well Can't wait till H&H hits the states... --------------------

Hey, that H&H show sounds pretty cool. I've never been the world's biggest Dio fan, (I'm one of those who felt that Sabbath minus Ozzy "isn't") but I still love 3 of the songs on that setlist:E5150 Mob Rules title track Neon Knights As for me, I'm feeling much better, thanks. I had that damn fever for almost a week, but that's probably because I worked everyday and went to out-of-State concerts & shit... My next show will hopefully be The Locust in Minneapolis, April 6. This is another live band I must highly recommend to you weirdo VVF-types. DEVO meets Anal Cunt and beyond. The Locust w/ Cattle Decapitation, Daughters Mar. 24, 2007 Anaheim, CA Chain Reaction Mar. 28, 2007 Hollywood, CA Knitting Factory Mar. 29, 2007 San Francisco, CA Slim's Mar. 30, 2007 Berkely, CA Gilman Street Mar. 31, 2007 Portland, OR Hawthorne Theatre Apr. 1, 2007 Seattle, WA Neumo's Apr. 3, 2007 Salt Lake City, UT Club Sound Apr. 4, 2007 Denver, CO The Marquis Theatre Apr. 5, 2007 Omaha, NE The Rock Apr. 6, 2007 Minneapolis, MN Triple Rock Social Club Apr. 7, 2007 Chicago, IL Logan Square Auditorium Apr. 8, 2007 Detroit, MI Magic Stick Apr. 9, 2007 Cleveland Hights, OH Grog Shop Apr. 10, 2007 Pittsburgh, PA Club Stratus Apr. 12, 2007 Boston, MA Roxy Underground Apr. 13, 2007 New York, NY Rebel Apr. 14, 2007 Brooklyn, NY Europa Apr. 15, 2007 Philadelphia, PA First Unitarian Church Apr. 16, 2007 Washington DC Black Cat Apr. 18, 2007 W.
