Anybody know anything about this? Away did mention he got the name from a Dracula/vampire literature, but this is damn curious...

It's not really literature - a "Voivode" is an old eastern European feudal rank, similar to a Duke or Prince. Vlad Tepes, "the Impaler", was Voivode of Wallachia.

I know less than nothing about that item, though.

I talk to this dude (Richard Wileman) all the time on the forum over at Progressive Ears. He is a very, very cool guy, and an incredibly talented composer. If you like yer dark film scores, the 'Prog' and the modern composers, snatch that bad boy up right away.

Here's his SoundClick samples page

??? When did Away mention this then? Someone put an old interview with him on .net, from around 1986 I think? Had a look, says there about the name coming from the northern european warrior race, which i thought was the original story? This is also the story on the sheet which was included with the vinyl of Dimension Hatross when it came out.
Sent an email to chophouse over a year ago enquiring as to when the voivod became a vampire, no answer!!! expect they thought i'm being a twat. Never mind eh. I wanna know tho!!

Ok, so... the Voivod started out as a warrior but somewhere along the way became a vampire?? Is this perhaps Away's subconscious way of telling us that once they were mighty, but now they suck? Teeheehee just kidding.

Check out the Headbanger's Ball interview in the downloads section, that's where I heard him mention it.
