As much as this news may turn out to be akin to the last record's 'Nothingface on steroids' hype, it's certainly not bad news, IMO...

VOIVOD Update
Attention! Attention! Attention! All friends in the Multiverse.

The Voivod is alive and well in the land of ice. Currently, there
are approximately 25 songs in progress for the next recordings.
Mssr. Piggy is churning up evil with some very metal riffage and
leading the way as we are charting our course of execution for the
months ahead.

As of now, we plan to return to the same rooms with the same
helmsman of the Nothingface era. (Translation: Away, Snake, Piggy,
and Jasonic make some serious new Voivodian noise in Montreal with
Glen Robinson producing.) This is our dream, this is our quest.

So, as the world spins faster everyday, we will make our music, our
way, when everything aligns. In time, the Voivod again will rise!
Listen closely for the cries...in 2005...

We look forward to sharing the metal with our people. Until we see
you...

Keep It Heavy,

Jasonic

P.S. Check out the 20th Anniversary "War and Pain" release from
Metal Blade. Awesome true old school!

Curious. VERY curious. The ever forward moving band revisiting the past? Or do they just feel Robinson is the right man to get the best out of them?

My fingers are crossed (though my cross is not fingered).

WOW, this is a good news.
That mean that Voivod will record at the famous Le Studio in Morin Heights.
I expect great things from Glen as producer and mainly if it's done at Le Studio where he used to be Chief Engineer.

Is Le Studio still in activity? I heard that the studio wasn't running anymore because it was too expensive and too far away.LOOK HERE!

I'm really happy that they are recording in Québec, tho. Good beer, good vibe!

That would be great if it was a double album also.

25 news songs on a new album, damn good news.

I just hope ALL of the songs make it on the album and VOIVOD does a full blown tour!

Ah... i knew that. hehe.
Still cool that it's sorta officially announced now tho.

But NOT nearly as cool as playing DH on vinyl on my brand new/old amp (Sansui 661, built in 1975, bought from some old bag at a yard sale for 10 bucks).

I came.

2005?!?!? Arrrrgh... I can't wait that long. My head's gonna explode! Uh-oh <kablooey>

"Scrape the brain-cells off my wall..."

Yeah, good things come to those who wait; patience is a virtue; a watched Voivod never boils, etc... but I wish it was 2005 right now!

Dammit.

I was thinking about that whole "double-album" thing... There aren't much metal double albums. Can you name one?

The only one I can think of is McTallica's ...And Justice, which was, do you remember, a double when it came out!

Maybe they have to wait till 2005 when all the numer line up on a Tuesday to mean something. Jason is a numerologist, remember, and the release date for the last album had to be on a certain day, and since Tuesdays are the release days here in the states, it takes a while for all the digits to fall into place. Crazy, yes... but very possible IMHO.

Another double metal studio release?
If you want to consider Led Zep metal: Physical Grafitti.

Justice for all was still a single cd. There would be lots of metal double VINYL releases but due to the fact you can squeeze 80 minutes onto a cd, there's not too many bands who could write more than that for a studio album and not sound too redundant. There's a good reason VOIVOD SHOULD release a double studio cd, because they ARE creative enough to pull it off.

Other than that the only multi discs that get released are live cds, or compilations.

he he he...Why does the VOIVOD news have to come from Jasonic? Damn with 25 songs, you'd think (what with it only being JUNE) it would be out a little sooner. But, I don't care when, so long as it gets released and they don't break up and disappear on us.
