Hi, i mailed someone at the Chophouse to please give me some information on the Voivod subject. I got an answer. here it is......

Paul,

Since the Fall of last year, Voivod has been working on new material for the
next album. We hope to record over the Summer and release some new music
early next year. We'll certainly keep you posted as things develop, so make
sure you're subscribed to the Voivod and Chophouse Records mailing lists.

Cheers!

The Chophouse

Things are going to take a little longer but at least i now know they will NOT hit the summer stages in Europe to promote their new album.

Maybe they'll do the European festivals to try out the new material before recording. But I kinda doubt it....

Hehe, why not? They could play the whole album live for their 20th aniversary!

But that won't happen. Oh well.

That's no news anyway... it's like a pre-recorded message.

With Voivod taking theyre time to create this one, hopefully it will be better than the last.
Less rushed and a bit more technical.
Even though Jason isnt really that technical of a bass player.

Indeed, Skuleth, it sounded almost robotic...and cold. At least there's Ozzfest with Slayer this summer. And Vital Remains here on May 22nd!

I'd also like to add that the fantastic War & Pain Deluxe Edition still isnt advertised, let alone mentionned, on the official site either. It's also nowhere to be found in the general store section (that's not surprising since it's not a Chophouse Records release, but still...). ANd of course the new shirts with the W&P design arent nowhere to be seen either. And when was the last message from the band up there? Last summer?

It's just lousy, lazy, and wrong.

When was this even mentionned? I dont recall seeing anything concerning euro-dates. Just hopes.

On the other hand, i'm really looking forward to a few shows this summer. Especially the Violent Femmes in quebec city, in july for the Summer Fair.

The Summer Fair? Are you referring to the Festival d'Été de Québec? Oh boy, oh boy. Violent Femmes rule!!!

About the official website, I agree with you Skul. I think the problem is not with Voivod, but it's general to most of bands official sites.

Usually, official sites are about promotting the new album and having nice Flash animations. And not much infos.

On the other hands, if you wanna have infos on a band, check out the fansites. They're usually full of infos, news and are pretty much *alive*. Like Voivodfan, y'know.

Another great exemple: the official Judas Priest site (which is okay I guess) and THIS fansite, which is totally crazy.

My 0,02$.

EDIT: Maybe Voivod are thinking: "Why bother doing an official website when Voivodfan is so great?"
