Hello, portuguese class is back.New word is: BONFIRE! Portuguese: FOGUEIRA. Thanks. -------------------- "Forty-five moments of perfection translated through a cautionary escape into the perils of the mundane, the inherent entropy in ultimate order, and the potential threats of eternal, unchecked apathy in civilization; all cloaked in musical expression so thoughtful, creative and forward thinking that almost a quarter-century later, few can even comprehend it, much less match it." Heh, Glad Valborg på dig också (min svensk suger men jag tjempar...:-P) Where'd you learn all that Finnish? You're better at it than I am in Swedish, hehee! Actually the swedish-speaking folks here use "vappen" (...not sure but I think that's the case, it can be fake Swedish also...), in Finnish it's called Vappu. Motuman, welcome on board! Hauska nähdä aetoa savvoo tässä ulottuvuudessa! Älä suotta lurki nurkissa, täällä voi heittää läppää melkein mistä vaan ja porukka on tosi asiallista, jopa Blacky poikkeaa silloin tällöin. Voivodin pojat eivät kyllä paljoa näy (lue ei koskaan) millään saitilla, mutta vitut siitä! Well Annki, you're still using the language no matter how much you know it, which is always nice (and good for learning more)! Skål!The course is nearing its end for now...today we are going to learn another important phrase: Mitä kuuluu? = How are you? The double vowels are pronounced as is, and there are no gaps or stops in "kuuluu". The Finnish "u" is pronounced a bit like the vowel in "moo" Just to make things more obscure, I'm going to try and describe words separately too. Mitä means "what" or sometimes "which" when translated directly into E, kuuluu is tougher to translate literally. I'd describe it as "(sth) can be heard (somewhere)", another meaning is "belongs to". Aww, I need a dictionary.... Cheers! -------------------- Tomorrow is the fear Tomorrow disappears Tomorrow is the fear We are connected...
