Who writes these things? They go through the article describing the incident and then end it with:

Rush's hits include "Tom Sawyer," "Limelight" and "Spirit of the Radio."

Is this just so readers will have a clue who the hell they're talking about?

I've listened to Rush for decades, and never realized "Lifeson" was just a stage name. Next thing you know, I'll be watching a baseball game on TV in a couple of months when suddenly two fans - "Geddy" Liebendorfthaler and "Neil" Papadopoulovskiyev - jump on the field and start clobbering the shite out of the Toronto Blue Jays' mascot.

Yeah, that 1st article almost made it sound as though Alex was an "ego-maniac" wanting his kid to get of the stage because he was stealing his dad's "Limelight!"
