Haha, "I Have Been In You" has got to be the funniest song ever.

*BUMP*

Coz Zappa iz cool, and all.

Lately, I have been rediscovering a few Zappa albums that I never really got into.

Monday night was "Lumpy Gravy", which I listened on earphones and on one sitting. Quite stunning, but you really have to sit through it, and LISTEN to it. Zappa has never been a first listen enjoyement (like Voivod!) and it's so great to have musicians like that, that you can listen over and over and still discover new stuff.

Last night was "Weasels Ripped My Flesh", again with earphones, and in the dark. It was scary and fun, and when the title track ended ("Weasels" is like a 1 minute rumble of noise, followed by Frank saying "Thank you for coming to the show..."), I just stayed there, in darkness and silence, thinking how great this album is after all!

Ok, enough about me. How about youze guys, any similar experiences?

Just gotta throw in my two cents on my favorite album to listen to from beginning to end by Zappa. Of all the Zappa topics I've ever seen on line, I've yet to hear someone praise the album "Just Another Band from LA". Probably my all time favorite live CD of all time. I can't even put my finger on why. Yes, there are other live Zappa CDs with better solos and improving, but there's a charm to this recording. Love every note. And the humor is great.

Maybe people aren't too attracted by the Flo & Eddie era. It's not my favorite era anyway.

REVIEWS ON KILL UGLY RADIO

Hmm, maybe I should have a listen to Live at Filmore East tonight... Haven't heard that one in a while.

Shit Mez! I completly forgot about our trading deal! Gotta email you, be warned...

And Live at Fillmore East is reeeaaaly not the best Zappa album. The mud shark and groupie jokes are funny when you first listen to it, but doesn't hold after repeated listens...

*B-B-B-B-BUMP!!!!*

Just a note for zappaphiles around that CHALK PIE, an unreleased Zappa live album from the 81 band, is available on the net (just click the title).

It has Steve Vai all over it, "Teenage Prostitute" with extra-Lisa Popeil, stuff that ended up on other albums with different mixes, unreleased stuff, and the famous "Clownz on Velvet" with another great italian, Al DiMeola.

ENJOY!

GLOUP!

This thread reminds me it's been a while since I've listened to my uber-cool "Thing-Fish" 3LP+libretto near-mint German import boxset.
